From The Federalist: These attacks come five months after the Paris attacks that shocked the world and took the lives of 130 men and women. These terrorists had pledged their allegiance to ISIS and were carrying out what they believed to be holy jihad. Although most of the perpetrators were killed during the attacks or in the days after in a suburb of Paris, one man eluded the police. That man, Salah Abdeslam, was captured on Friday after a months-long manhunt.
The city has been on high alert since his arrest. They knew Abdeslam had a large network in Brussels, and that he had been planning more attacks. They feared his network of operatives would lash out. They also discovered detonators in a safe house last week before his arrest. Presumably, today’s bombings in Brussel were a reaction to Abdeslam’s apprehension, either out of concern that he would talk or that the police would soon be on to them, too.
What is shocking the Brussels police, however, is the scale of Abdeslam’s network and its capacity to help him avoid capture for so long in a city that authorities were scouring for him. On the night of the Paris attacks, Abdeslam crossed the border into Belgium with the help of a friend. Although his name was flagged as a person of interest, the border guards’ system had not yet been updated with the information that he was one of the suspects. From there, it’s presumed that he returned home to Brussels, where he continued planning more attacks.
How is it that in a prosperous European country there can be enough support within the Muslim community for a man who had pledged his allegiance to ISIS?
In the months before the Paris attacks, he and the Syrian fighters with whom he linked up were helped by Abdeslam’s family, childhood friends, and other petty criminals to remain concealed. In the months after the attacks, he was helped by what it seems is a massive network of “friendlies” who were willing to shelter, hide, and perhaps even work with him on the next terrorist plot. When Abdeslam was finally apprehended, he was living a few hundred yards from his family’s home—right under the nose of the police.
Here we come to the crux of the problem. How is it that in a prosperous European country there can be enough support within the Muslim community for a man who had pledged his allegiance to ISIS, has already successfully completed one terrorist attack and is planning others, to be protected and aided?
The answer is that this is a problem of Europe’s own creating—and it’s not going away. Beginning in the post-World War II era, Europe was in need of workers to pad its depleted work force. A natural place to look was North Africa, in former colonies of Spain and France. While it was assumed that migration would be short-term, the reality is that the men who came to work stayed, and later brought over their families. Europe made no plan for how to house and assimilate these families (see Christopher Caldwell’s excellent book, “Reflections on the Revolution in Europe,” for an in-depth discussion of this topic).
More to the point, Europe was uncomfortable asking its Muslim communities to assimilate. European leaders felt that would be too reminiscent of the colonial era. Their guilt and newfound “enlightenment” guided them to leave these people to their communities, culture, and religion. At the same time, however, they also ostracized them. What resulted was tight-knit majority-Muslim enclaves often on the outskirts of major European cities (like Saint Denis on the outer edge of Paris, where one of the Paris attackers was found).

I attended L.A. public schools for about half a school year, back during forced busing in the early 1970s…..
Never once, not ONE TIME, did I see a white student harass, intimidate, or humiliate a black student. However, I saw every school day, black students harass, intimidate, and humiliate white students. At least a few times a week, I saw black students beat and/or rob white students. I never saw a white student beat or rob a black student. Never. Not one time. Perhaps all these white on black humiliations/harassment/intimidation/beatings are happening in the Southern states, or some “other” places other than the LA school district.
But, as far as the L.A. school district, from my observations, it was always, 100% of the time BLACK ON WHITE. I’ve heard of many many many other whites who tell me similar things, who lived throughout the U.S., including the South. They all tell me about black on white violence, intimidation, threats, robberies, of blacks against whites, and Asians, and Latinos. I don’t see or hear the stories of WHITE on black or WHITE on Hispanic. I’m sure it happens, but I just haven’t seen or heard of any event.
WHY don’t you mention the epidemic of BLACK ON WHITE violence in this country? Could it be….No….No….could it be you WANT THE VOTES of black people, and you’re merely PANDERING to them? No, can’t be. Nobody could be that “low”.
“First of all, we have a much, much tougher refugee program than the Europeans have,” Chertoff said. “The problem the Europeans have is people showed up on their doorstep — hundreds of thousands, coming directly from the region. That does not happen in the U.S. We check people very carefully before we admit them as refugees.”
…“The idea that you can identify people who are a risk based upon their religion or the way they look is completely fallacious. It’s like going after cancer with a meat axe instead of a scalpel.”
I think I’ll side with Trump on this one. What non-Muslim country has been improved by Muslims?
Most terrorists in the West today are Muslim. Islam has been at war with the West for 1500 years. Why would it change?
Low IQ people are a horror show to try to deal with in life, not just on the roads and at work, but also in the line at Ralphs. People on welfare tend to be worse behaved than other groups and they often seem to feel more entitled.
Racial diversity destroys social capital. The more diverse Europe becomes, the more frayed it will be.
[Robert] Putnam began by telling us about one result he encountered that was thoroughly upsetting to him—the more ethnically diverse a community is, the less social capital it possesses. When a person lives in a diverse community, he trusts everyone less, including those of his own ethnic group.
So how did Putnam come to conclude that ethnic diversity is so problematic? The answer begins with the notion of “social capital,” which Putnam defines in simple terms—“social networks and the associated norms of reciprocity and trustworthiness.” Social capital turns out to be an exceptionally valuable commodity. Building complex networks of friends and associates, trusting others to keep their word, and maintaining social norms and expectations all grease the wheels of business by enabling cooperation.
But the value of social capital goes well beyond economics. Many of the activities from which people draw the most deep and lasting satisfactions are stronger and more prevalent in areas with high social capital. People living in these places tend to have more friends, care more about their community, and participate more in civic causes. Where social capital is greater, Putnam says, “children grow up healthier, safer, and better educated; people live longer, happier lives; and democracy and the economy work better.”
Gypsies have lived in Europe for hundreds of years and they still have not assimilated. Is that Europe’s fault? Gypsies, like Muslims, have low IQs and are not assimilable.
Christians have been struggling with Jews and Muslims for over a millennia because these individual groups have different interests that repeatedly clash with each other.
There is one other gaping hole in the leadership of the EU: 70 years after the Shoah, rabid anti-Semitism and hate for the Jewish state infect an estimated 150 million Europeans. Seven decades after the defeat of Nazism, European governments and nongovernmental organizations have been silent over the ethnic cleansing, murder and serial rape of tens of thousands of Christians and other minorities across the Middle East.
I’m not listing this off to say that Jews are rotten. Jews, like all peoples, have good and bad in their history. I just don’t understand how this rabbi gets away with bashing the goyim for acting as Israel does with unwanted refugees. Rabbi Cooper rips Europe for not coming to terms with the Holocaust but he never says a peep about Jews not coming to terms with the genocides they helped carry out for Joe Stalin.

Perhaps it is not intrinsically that Metro is so horrible but that many of the people who use it are particularly horrible, and most of the bus drivers are surly.
* US has done a better job because Muslims are still a very small percentage of the population.
A very small minority assimilates better than a big one does. In some European cities, Muslims are the MAIN minority. Also, ultra-liberalism of EU tries to make whites assimilate to diversity than other way around.
Also, US has less culture and history than Europe. It’s easy to ‘assimilate’ to eating Big Mac and watching Hollywood movies if that has indeed become the essence of American Culture and identity.
If black population had been 1%, who knows? They might have melted into rest of America.
But being much bigger, assimilation has been difficult.
More Muslims that US has, more Muslims will assert themselves and assimilate less.
Also, Neocons certainly didn’t assimilate well into the GOP base. Had they done so, people like Boot wouldn’t be throwing a fit because many white conservatives don’t want to be bossed around by Jewish conservatives who make up less than 1% of conservatives.
One thing for sure, Israel hasn’t done such a great job in assimilating Palestinians. Walls seem to keep going up on the basis that assimilation is futile.
* Their website sucks, the tap webaite sucks. You can not reload money quick, takes time and its way outdated. I complained about this 5 years ago and site still a dump. MTA is overrated it claims to save money, but at 100$ monthly pass is not worth it, driving short and long distances is way cheaper and time saving.
* The bus service is better in Downtown LA; in south LA, the time between buses can range from 20 – 30 minutes apart. Most drivers are very rude, but some are quite nice.
I’ve seen people tell a sob story to drivers, and ride a few stops for no cost; yet, as a disabled rider, I was chastised when the idiot driver couldn’t count change properly. Or when I didn’t understand his “ghetto English.” The rail in SoLA can be taking your chances riding among drug dealers, users, and the general population of the mentally ill. Overall, the buses serve the area well, but riding them can be a nightmare. They’ll let almost anything ride the bus.
* I love the trains, they are very reliable and save so much time over walking, the busses on the other hand, not so much, a 15 minute ride plus a half hour wait equals might as well have walked. Plus, I’ve seen a few drivers who almost ran over a few pedestrians with walkers just because they were in a bad mood. Blowing horns in the faces of the elderly is a very common practice amongst metro drivers, especially on Wilshire blvd in Koreatown where of course, nobody knows how to drive. I can’t tell you how many times people have tried to run me over in the cross walk when I had the walk sign and therefore, the right of way.

Max Boot tweets: “Problem in EU is failure to assimilate Muslim immigrants. US has done better job, but Trump attacks alienate Muslims & threaten security.”
* So the solution for Europe is more Muslim immigration, to show we care. That will solve the problem of Islamic terrorism in Europe.
If more Muslim immigration does not work in stopping Islamic terrorism, it is the fault of Europe for not caring enough about the needs of its new Muslim residents, or for acting as if terrorist outrages might be the fault of Muslims rather than the fault of the white European power structure.
* Maybe Boot could explain how Stalin would do a better job of assimilating immigrants?
* Uncle Joe had his solutions for recalcitrant minorities:
Kenneth Christie, Historical Injustice and Democratic Transition in Eastern Asia and Northern Europe: Ghosts at the Table of Democracy (2002)
Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonians (1940-41): 85,000 deported, of which 55,000 killed or died
Baltics executed during reconquest (1944-45): 30,000
Postwar partisan war
Lithuanians: 40-50,000 k.
Latvian: 25,000
Estonians: 15,000
Richard Overy, Russia’s War (1997)
Deaths resulting form ethnic cleansing operations (Chechens, etc) in WW2: 231,000
Ethnic operations during the Great Terror (1937-38): 247,157 deaths, of which 111,091 were ethnic Poles.
* Yep, clearly the best thing to do with people who will murder you if you anger them is to get as many of them as possible to come to your country.
* Their first principle is to prevent nationalism for Europeans while supporting it for Israel. All explanations for all events must conform to this priority.
* The problem in Israel is its failure to assimilate its Muslim citizens.
* Most Belgian people are extremely politically correct Liberals and do not bash Muslims like Donald Trump does, yet their security was still threatened by Muslim extremists. How would Max Boot explain this?
* Too bad Boot didn’t say he would have voted for Hitler over Trump. Then he would have been declared persona non grata, and we would never have to listen to him again. But no, he only said he would have preferred Stalin to Trump. So not only did he not get deported to a political Siberia, he is still treated as someone whose opinion matters.
* US has done a better job because Muslims are still a very small percentage of the population.

“The Daily Mail has a story about a study showing blonde women have higher IQs than brunettes or redheads. Note they reference the 1980 ASVAB and that they dropped black and hispanic women from the results.”
Daily Mail: Data for the study came from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1979 (NLSY79) – a national survey of people who were between 14 and 21 years old when they were first interviewed in 1979.
In 1980, participants in the NLSY79 took the Armed Forces Qualification Test, or AFQT, which is used by the Pentagon to determine the intelligence of all recruits.
The overall AFQT score is based on word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, math knowledge and arithmetic reasoning.
In 1985, all participants were asked, ‘What is your natural hair colour?’
To eliminate any bias in the IQ tests caused by ethnic and racial differences, Jay Zagorsky from Ohio State University dropped all African Americans and Hispanics from the analysis, reducing the sample size to 10,878 white, females.
The findings showed that blonde-haired white women had an average IQ of 103.2, compared to 102.7 for those with brown hair, 101.2 for those with red hair and 100.5 for those with black hair.
* I’ve never been to Belgium, but I was shocked at the footage of the arrest a few days ago. I could not understand why the reporters and officials were so jubilant that they made an arrest. What I saw looked like failure. A major European city now appears to have a large section of it occupied by hostile foreigners. Watching the police effect the arrest was like watching US troops in Fallujah. Rather than feel good about the arrest of a terrorist I was left feeling Belgium has a lot of work left to clear out that hornet’s nest.

* EU elites main concern now will be to tamp down any natavists reaction to this latest carnage. they will be on the lookout for any neanderthals walking about with a club. obviously, maintaining the same vigilance in vibrant quarters is not necessary.
* In the Aeneid, there was a Trojan named Laocoon who said that the Trojan Horse was probably a weapon designed to destroy Troy. For his truth telling, the goddess Athena, who favors the Trojans, sends snakes at Laocoon, which strangle and kill him and his two sons.
The Trojans thought that criticizing the idea of taking in the Trojan Horse would lead to personal ruin, so they went along with the idea, which led to the annihilation of their whole polity.
Needless to say, the parallel with our contemporary situation is apparent. There will be plenty of snakes who will be ready to strangle us for speaking out, in order to encourage others to keep quiet and do what is expected of them.
* I felt sickened by this, once again, murder of innocent people in public places. I was especially rattled by the 2 baby strollers (one showed what appeared to be a slumped-over toddler; and an adult body covering another smaller body (all seemed dead); and the other stroller seemed to be empty but it was so smoggy, that I couldn’t tell. The crying and wailing was awful. This was all the first footage I saw on CNN after 9 a.m. EST.
Now, maybe this one dead toddler’s photo should be shown to the world just like the drowned toddler last summer? Dead babies are dead babies, but this one was killed by murderers. So, one of you gifted computer mavens, find that footage of the baby stroller (had a canopy) with the slumped-over toddler and post to the world. How long will it be o.k. for foolish westerners that ordinary people are killed since elites have their own jets and don’t take subways/buses/trains, and live in Whitetopias and gated communities?
Close the fracking borders. Don’t let European male citizens return from MENA anymore. Develop a stealth surveillance system. Immigration is obviously not a plus…or there will be more dead babies.
* Is it worth making the obvious point that Islamic terrorism is close to overwhelming the capacity of the police and security services to contain it? Belgian is a warning to the rest of Europe.
I read a couple of years ago in a Belgian paper a breakdown of how much its costs to monitor even one youth with frisky ideas; it was clearly unsustainable given the rising numbers.
The Economist noted last year that active terror suspects in Belgian are likely greater in number than the total number of Belgian intelligence officers and that it takes up to 60 agents to track a suspect.
Clearly proactive new thinking is needed – sweeps of Molenbeek; exile for Syrian returnees; licensing of mosques; a ban on Qatar and Saudi financing etc. – but it is hard to imagine European governments doing this. France has failed even to cancel the passports of suspect dual citizens.
Either European leaders discover some testicular fortitude or leaders will arise who will do the job – and the Davos liberals will not like that.
* Buzzfeed: One Belgian counterterrorism official told BuzzFeed News last week… virtually every police detective and military intelligence officer in the country was focused on international jihadi investigations.
“We just don’t have the people to watch anything else and, frankly, we don’t have the infrastructure to properly investigate or monitor hundreds of individuals suspected of terror links, as well as pursue the hundreds of open files and investigations we have,” the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said.
* When a city has to make videos like that, it’s already on the way out.
* Sanders just called for more intelligence, better intelligence, and more vigilance.
In other words, a socialist just called for more spying on U.S. citizens and more shredding of constitutional rights as opposed to merely exporting the problem.
* Rod Liddle: It was only a matter of time before Brussels got the suicide-bomb allahu akbar treatment, as the Belgians knew full well. Part of the city – especially Molenbeek – is a cesspit of Islamic extremism. The authorities have been content to let such areas fester and until recently the police were noticeable by their absence. Quite aside from the Isis-inspired suicide bombers, a whole crescent (suitably enough) along the north-west seaboard of Europe has proved fertile ground for the Arab European League, a violently anti-Semitic and anti-western Islamist movement which has attracted scant attention, despite its typically vile programme. From Lille in the south, via Brussels, Antwerp, The Hague all the way to Rotterdam, whole towns and suburbs have Muslim populations in excess of 40 per cent. Political parties which have opposed this colonisation (such as Vlaams Belang) are excluded from government and denied airtime.
One assumes it will be London next. Again. And the terrorists will be home-grown – from Tower Hamlets or Luton or Kirklees. Indulged at an early age in their adolescent and narcissistic sense of victimhood. We will be told, when the atrocity happens, that they were ‘radicalised’ by something or someone, as if their espousal of Islamism had been imposed upon them extraneously. Another nonsense, along with all the other nonsenses we are fed in order to placate that section of the Muslim community which doesn’t necessarily want us all dead yet.
* Until recently Belgium was a low crime society where the worst the police had to deal with was cheese theft or such, so they are just not competent or equipped to deal with international terrorism. Imagine if Andy of Mayberry and Deputy Barney had to deal with ISIS.
* Trump is capitalizing, big time, nailing it. First we had the NYT commentariat sounding like the iSteve commentariat. Now we have a presidential candidate. In a few months, there is every chance we will have a president. When we do, the world will change, and not before time.
* Ted Cruz bashing Trump for saying his NATO comments of yesterday AS IF NATO has done any damn thing to stem Muslim terrorism.
* Apparently Cruz has hired Elliott Abrams and some other neocons as his foreign policy advisers . His statement trying to invoke NATO into this event, and thus attack Trump, obviously reflects the neocon point of view.
* Trump should really start rallying police unions to support his build a wall/deport/cut immigration strategy. It would
-Give him union cred nationally
-increase his greatest strength (National Question)
-increase white male turnout for him
-change the dynamic on immigration restriction–suddenly deep blue democrat groups are supporting his policies
A few smart police unions could do this. I think the NYC police union would be a great one to kick it off—just start listing off the percent of crimes done by illegals coupled with the costs of anti-terrorism activities by the force.
* I think they are trying to get Trump elected so we can find out that he really is Hitler.
* I think their goal is the age old islamic goal of conquering all of Europe. That is the prize of prizes. They’ve had pretty good success. They held onto parts of Iberia for 700 years. They occupied Eastern Europe for over 400 years, and still occupy Constantinople and its surrounds. Recently they successfully tore away Kosovo from Serbia and created a new muslim state inside Europe.
These attacks on Europe are showing just how weak Europe has become and it must give great encouragement to the tens of millions of muslims who seek to dominate Europe. They will continue to migrate and continue to setup their separate communities. Why would they assimilate into a culture that is dying when their culture will eventually prevail?
At first I thought these attacks on Europe were foolish because the muslims still needed more years of massive immigration to get a stronger foothold in Europe. I figured these attacks might close down immigration and begin a period of repatriation.
But now I think these attacks are smart. They are showing just how weak Europe has become and serve as a reminder to muslims to not assimilate and continue working towards the day when they can take over. I cannot imagine the feeling that many muslims must be feeling now. To see their historic enemy, who still has superior military, financial and technological abilities, become so weak and feeble that he is unable to stop what is happening must be surreal. If one were religious I could see how they could feel that God is indeed on their side.
* I imagine being seen to carry out big spectacular attacks in Europe helps their recruiting operations. But it seems very unlikely to end well for Muslim immigrant communities in France and Belgium.
* One of life’s ironies is that yesterday in France, the government unveiled a multi-million euro ad campaign against …. islamophobic violence. The Front National alone pointed out the contrast between two extremely violent attacks (committed at least in the name of Islam) and the “need” for this campaign.
As we ominously watch European cities like Brussels and Paris beleaguered by a growing population of homegrown radical Islamists, we must ask what our government is doing to prevent the United States from following the same trajectory. As noted a number of times, our immigration from countries infected with radical Islam has doubled in recent years, totaling over 1.6 million from 2001-2013.
According to a new analysis from the Senate Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest, chaired by Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), this trajectory has grown sharply just over the five most recent years. Counting all of the green cards issued to foreign nationals of predominantly Muslim countries between FY 2009 and FY 2013 alone, the subcommittee found that 680,000 individuals have been granted legal permanent residence in America. That is a larger number than the population of our nation’s capital.
This coincides with census data analyzed by the Center for Immigration Studies, which estimates a 415,784 net increase in the population of nationals from predominantly Muslim countries living in the U.S from 2010-2014. If net population growth, which is mitigated by deaths and emigration grew by that much, it makes sense that the initial migration numbers have been much higher. One could only imagine what the numbers would be had Marco Rubio gotten his way and successfully passed the Gang of 8 immigration bill.
