It was the night a beauty contestant turned ugly.
When Miss California was asked her opinion on same-sex marriages by an openly gay judge she could have chosen a diplomatic reply.
Instead, 21-year-old Carrie Prejean answered with honesty.
But in saying marriage should be between a man and a woman, it was a reply that may have cost her the Miss USA crown and led to her being called a ‘dumb bitch’.
Andrew Breitbart asks why a gay judge — Perez Hilton — would judge a female beauty contest?
Dennis Prager said on his show today: "To take offense to that is to be narcissistic… It’s frightening. It means that any differentiation, even if you are open to my view which she is, is despicable and can not be allowed. The judge speaks of her as having half a brain, but if you hear him, I don’t think intelligence is the first thing you think of…"
Dennis says he’s never heard of Perez Hilton. Dennis plays an audio clip of Perez Hilton’s YouTube video.
Dennis says he heard more cheers than boos for Miss California.
Dennis: "No offense… I rarely insult… but for him to insult her intelligence when he sounds this way is striking. There is nothing wrong with her answer whatever side you are on.
"This is what is going to be the case for your kids at school when they are asked about this subject… Unless they give the right answer…
"I’d like to ask the genius (Perez Hilton) if states should decide on abortion rights."
"There will be only one way for an American to express an opinion on same-sex marriage or you will be excoriated in the New York Times as a racist-like fool as Frank Rich does in yesterday’s newspaper."
"The judge (Perez Hilton) lied about her response and lied about the audience reaction because he has an agenda. This is what is increasingly happening in this country. We will not allow the notion that decency and the belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman can coincide. I am not shaken that gay marriage is allowed by some courts. I’m shaken by the ability of the Left to so dominate discourse in this country so that what they believe becomes the norm after thousands of years of opposite belief."
A caller points out that President Obama gave a much stronger statement in support of male-female marriage at Saddleback church last year than this woman did.
