Man tells police he was attacked, robbed by Uber driver
ATLANTA — A man is recovering in the hospital after he tells police he was attacked and robbed by an Uber driver.
Both the victim’s family and the driver are trading posts that are getting tens of thousands of views on Facebook — while police try to sort it all out.
The victim’s sister took to Facebook, accusing an Uber driver who she says was giving her brother a ride.
It all started around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday when Bo Cleary says he contacted the Uber ride-sharing service for a pickup outside Churchill’s British Pub along Cains Hill Place.
Cleary told investigators that instead of going home, he wound up behind Peachtree Presbyterian Church where the Uber driver and another man beat him, robbed him, then threw him down a drainage pipe.
Cleary’s sister Taylor Cleary claims there was already a passenger in the car when her brother was picked up, using the new Uber carpool service, and that the two men proceeded to pull over, beat her brother unconscious, take everything from him and stuff his naked body into a sewage drain.
Her Facebook post has been shared nearly 20,000 times.
