Real estate magnate Aron Abecassis is once again putting his money where his mouth is. He funded the visit of Israel’s Chief Rabbi (Askenazi) Yonah Metzger last week to Beth Jacob.
Aron and Rabbi Weil seem to have hit it off.
According to the website TruthAboutScientology.com, Aron graduated in 2004 from Scientology’s "Personal Efficiency" course and its "Personal Values & Integrity" course.
Aron turned Perutz Etz Jacob day Academy upside down. He raised money to replace much of its staff. He expected the school would gain a lot of new students but enrollment remained static. Frustrated, Aron moved on from the school this year.
Members of Beth Jacob get a couple of books each year published by some vanity press. One this year was by assistant rabbi Uri Pilichoswki. It was riddled with errors. The latest one, "Torah: Our Moral Compass" or some such title, is largely error free. It’s also short of original content.
On August 19 at 8 pm at Beth Jacob, controversial rabbi Natan Slifkin gives a lecture about his new book, "SACRED MONSTERS Mysterious and Mythical Creatures of Scripture, Talmud and Midrash."
