You want to break a gutsy Orthodox story, that everyone is afraid to touch? Try kashrut in L.A., specifically Rabbi Teichman’s "Kehilla Organization."
This guy is hated and feared by just about anyone he certifies. He is also slippery as a snake. One specific charge against him is he is like a mafia with chicken and meat distribution. Most people assume that he gets paid off by the slaughter house and Tzali’s foods. He basically wants everybody to buy from one supplier "Tzali’s Foods/City Glatt" and won’t let anybody buy from other vendors with the same sealed boxes from the same slaughter house. Some of these other vendors include big names like Doheny Kosher Meats, Ventura Kosher Meats, even Trader Joes (who doesn’t ever open the packaging.
I think if you patiently interviewed everybody under their certification, you’d have a real meaty story.
