Rabbi Abraham Cooper: A snapshot of France and her Jews at the crossroads

Abraham Cooper, Marvin Hier and company remind me of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. They’re all a bunch of race hustlers. Whenever anything shocking happens to their group, they run to the scene and show the flag.

The differences between them can best be accounted for by an IQ disparity of more than 20 points, but they’re all doing the best they can with what they’ve got, hustling up publicity to get more money and power and influence for themselves and their group. Abe and Marvin represent folks who are generally near the top of the socio-economic spectrum while Al and Jesse represent folks who are generally at the bottom of the socio-economic spectrum. Therefore, they have to operate differently.

The world has no need for Holocaust museums, Simon Wiesenthal Centers and Jesse Jacksons, but it’s a nice living if you can get it.

From the Jewish Journal:

Even before the latest murders, thousands of French Jews had already left – many of them to Israel. They had had it with taunts, hate crimes, bullying on trains, shootings in Toulouse, kidnappings, home invasions, rape and murder. They had absorbed unending media bias against Israel, anti-Semitic taunts from Dieudonné, a judicial system that would not deal with anti-Semitism in a serious way. And they felt a wall of apathy from non-Jewish neighbors, over 30 percent of whom agree with the Le Pens of France who would be happy to see the Jews just leave and that hopefully the Muslims would follow suit.

The term “anti-Semitism” without reference to particular deeds must mean anti-Jewish views. So the rabbi wants France’s judicial system to deal with anti-Jewish opinions?

I wonder why so many French would like Jews to leave? Do they have their reasons? The article does not elucidate.

“Beyond dealing with this new terrorist threat, unless and until France’s 6,000-plus Imams and other Muslim leaders, weigh in on the right side of this epic struggle, this war may not be winnable.”

Muslims have different interests from Jews. Why on earth would Muslim leaders want to act against their own interests? Any self-respecting member of a strongly identifying in-group, such as Muslims, yearns for the destruction of his enemies.

“There is a new awareness of the centrality of the Internet as a key weapon for ISIS and its supporters. The deft manipulation of social networking aids recruitment drives across Europe and mass-markets hatred against anyone – including Muslims – who oppose their vision of a worldwide Caliphate.”

This is just preparing the ground for restrictions on speech.

“The hate preached by some Imams has put down roots. I got a small dose of it when Dr. Samuels and I were rushing to a meeting at a kosher restaurant near the Elysée Palace. Passing a pub with a lunchtime line spilling out onto the sidewalk, I briefly locked eyes with a young, attractive hijab-clad Muslim woman. Her indifferent glance transformed into utter contempt when she saw my yarmulke.

“Hate is learned, and ISIS is but one of its only teachers. That woman’s anti-Semitism will not be erased by government decrees.”

It may not be a good idea for Jews wearing yarmulkes to lock eyes with Muslim women. At various places in the world at various times, Jews and Muslims feel a conflict of interests. If I were a Muslim or an Arab, I might have rejoiced when I got the news that four rabbis had been stabbed to death in a Jerusalem synagogue because I would want Jerusalem to belong to my group. The presence of a high-achieving Jewish state in the middle of low-achieving Arab states is an unbearable humiliation for Arabs. Their average IQ of about 85) simply does not permit them to compete with Jews.

Barbara Lerner Spectre runs a government funded Jewish study group in Sweden. She says: “I think there is a resurgence of anti-Semitism because at this point in time Europe has not yet learned how to be multicultural. And I think we are going to be part of the throes of that transformation, which must take place. Europe is not going to be the monolithic societies they once were in the last century. Jews are going to be at the centre of that. It’s a huge transformation for Europe to make. They are now going into a multicultural mode and Jews will be resented because of our leading role. But without that leading role and without that transformation, Europe will not survive.”

Jews are going to teach Europe to be multi-cultural. How’s that working out? Jews have played a significant role in encouraging Muslim immigration into Europe. How’s that working out for Europe and for Jews?

American general Wesley Clark has a Jewish dad and a Methodist mom. He reflects the views of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the ADL, the Southern Poverty Law Center and other Jewish organizations when he says: “Let’s not forget what the origin of the problem is. There is no place in modern Europe for ethnically pure states. That’s a 19th century idea and we are trying to transition into the 21st century, and we are going to do it with multi-ethnic states.”

Multi-ethnic means conflict and tragedy. Diversity means anti-white.

If the Simon Wiesenthal Center wanted to be above board, they would admit they were race hustlers. Instead, they pretend to be against all prejudice and bigotry, but you might notice they rarely go after Jews for negative depictions of non-Jews.

A Jerusalem bus carried the ad: “The Gentile doesn’t want anything. He waits to be told what the Jew wants!” (Lubavitcher Rebbe)

Imagine a bus in New York said: “The Jew doesn’t want anything. He waits to be told what the Muslim wants.” The Simon Wiesenthal Center would go nuts screaming about anti-Semitism, but unfortunately there is no term for negative Jewish views of Gentiles. Anti-Gentilism, apparently, is not a thing.

I expect every strongly identifying in-group to have negative views of out-groups so I don’t give a damn about what is called racism and bigotry and anti-Semitism if it doesn’t lead to harmful behavior. When it results in criminally violent behavior, I want those who do it severely punished, and when it comes to murder, I want them executed. I don’t believe in more severe punishment for hate crimes compared to identical crimes committed without the utterance of slurs.

There’s no part of the Simon Wiesenthal Center devoted to tracking down Stalin’s willing executioners who were Jewish. Why is genocide worse when non-Jews such as Nazis do it to Jews as opposed to when Jews do it to Kulaks in the 1930s?

Historian Albert S. Lindemann published a good book that sheds light on these matters, Esau’s Tears: Modern Anti-Semitism and the Rise of the Jews. Here are some excerpts:

Once revolutionaries had taken over in France after 1789…the question of what should be done about the Jews was unavoidable. As in Germany, Jews in France were considered, and considered themselves, a separate nation, a corporate body with special privileges granted by the king… They were not Frenchmen but rather Jews, a foreign people of Asian or Oriental origin…living in France. Such a sense of separateness was distinctly stronger among Jews than it was among other non-French…living in France.

Many Jewish leaders, especially the rabbis, were at first hostile to the idea of French citizenship… The rabbis had recently attempted to tighten up the bonds of corporate control…in order to “control unruly Jews”… The last thing most of them wanted was a systematic liberalization… The rabbis understood that such a liberalization would loosen their authority… Indeed, in eastern Europe the idea of civil equality would soon be roundly denounced by Jewish leaders as a cynical device to disrupt the Jewish community…

Sephardic spokesmen often emphatically agreed with non-Jews concerning the general unsuitability of the Ashkenazim for French citizenship, due to their low moral character…

A decade before the Revolution, the Metz Society of Arts and Sciences had offered a prize for the best essay on the question, “Are there means for making the Jews happy and more useful in France?”

…That Jews were degenerate and physically unattractive seemed to pass as unchallenged assumption in discussions among the Enlightened at midcentury… Another Enlightened Jew, who was one of the prize winners of the Metz competition, emphasized the evil of Jewish tradition itself… His essay argued that the wickedness of contemporary Jews was not only the result of Gentile oppression; the Talmud, the rabbis, the teachings of Judaism were also to blame. Thus, Jewish essence and an unfavorable environment were neatly joined.

The debates in the revolutionary National Assembly, between 1789 and 1791, echoed the debates in salons and academies in the decades before the Revolution. No one offered a defense of the Jews as they were… Opponents of Jewish emancipation retorted that Judaism was not a universalistic religion in the sense that the various Christian religions were. Judaic belief, they maintained, included the belief that Jews were a separate nation. It was not then merely a private affair. Jews could not serve in the army because would not eat the food that other soldiers ate. They would not drink wine produced by Gentiles. They would not wear the same clothes as other soldiers. They would not work or fight on the Sabbath. They could not be depended upon to defend the French nation because they were members of another nation, one that existed in other countries, potential enemies of France. A left-wing delegate fro Alsace…concluded, “It is not I that exclude Jews, they exclude themselves.”

The delegates from Alsace, both right and left wing, were among the most vociferous opponents of giving citizenship to the Jews. Since Alsace was where the largest concentration of Jews in France was to be found, those delegates were the ones as well who had had the most extensive firsthand contact with them, and in the words of one historian, “there can be no doubt that…prejudice was fed by the actual appearance and behavior of the average Jew.” The delegates from Alsace bitterly and repeatedly complained about the activities of Jews in their province…

Napoleon…was widely regarded by Jews in western and central Europe as their liberator and protector. He nonetheless continued to think of them as a peculiarly troublesome national group with a number of tenacious vices that would require special legislation to remedy.

…from the standpoint of most ordinary Jews in eastern Europe — not just the rabbis — modern ideas originating in western Europe were a snare of the Evil One….

Western Jews viewed the Jews of eastern Europe not only as embarrasingly backward, ragged, and filthy; the imagery they employed paralleled that of the anti-Semites.
