Rabbi Aaron Rakeffet-Rothkoff: ‘Feminism is the biggest problem we have’

This is an interesting class from 2006. The rabbi says he permitted a woman, quietly, to put on tefillin.

If you have a young woman leading the prayers, “if your eyes aren’t on her, you’re not a man, and if your eyes aren’t on your siddur, you’re not a Jew.”

* “It’s a Torah prohibition for a married woman to use her maiden name.”

A friend of mine went on a date with a Conservative rabbi. Things took their course. When he got up in the morning, he put on tefillin. When he looked behind him, there was his date putting on tefillin too.

* “Once they put kosher [meat] on a truck, seal it, package it, only Gentiles should be allowed to touch it. We’ve never had a [kosher] scandal with a goy… Every scandal was with Jews.”
