A few months ago, a reader sent me news reports about Peter Lowy.
I disingenuously replied: "Unfortunately, I am social with Peter Lowy and can’t publish anything negative about him."
I was lying. I’ve had a total of one short conversation with Peter Lowy. I didn’t want to publish the negative stories about Peter Lowy due to the enormous aggravation that would cause me socially.
My reader astutely answered: "You are social with him or is it that… has muzzled you and will throw you out if you say anything about the… largest donor? I respect the many contributions made by the Lowy’s, but – either your site is transparent and equal or people will think you are being paid off and you will lose whatever credibility you have."
