So a ton of people are commenting on this link. My two cents:
* An awkward, ugly job was done by the interviewer, but it wasn’t horrible, let alone the most embarrassing thing the network has done.
* Reza is not a historian, has never unearthed original historical documents nor broken ground in the field of history, so it is bogus for him to claim to be a historian.
* One does not need to be a historian to write about history, I did a historical book, but you shouldn’t claim credentials you don’t have, which is exactly what Reza Aslan does in this interview.
* Reza was given abundant time to answer the questions, far more time than is generally given to guests on TV (this wasn’t TV, it was for the web).
* Reza knew what he was getting into. FoxNews.com had published a critical piece on the MSM’s lavish praise for the book that was linked by the Drudge Report. The name of the show is “Spirited Debate” and that’s exactly how the segment went.
