On his radio show today, Dennis Prager said: “People are yelling at the prosecutor in New York [for the Dominique Strauss-Kahn case). It took a lot of courage for him to do it. He could have easily played up, I’m going to take on one of the biggest guys in the world. He could’ve played up the little lady. He could’ve played the race card. Black woman charges white man.
“Why is rape the only crime where it is forbidden to publish the name of the accuser? I’d like to know why. Isn’t that sexist? If rape is such a shameful crime, why are we allowed to publish the name of the accused? Remember the Lacrosse team at Duke? Every name. Every background. They were better known to the public than they were before the accusation to their classmates.”
“I know of women who’ve survived rape and gone on to lead normal lives. I don’t know if you can go on to lead a normal life if you are publicly accused of being a rapist.”
Dennis made a mistake, saying it was legally forbidden to publish the name of the female accuser in a rape case. It is not illegal. It is simply the practice of the American news media not to do it.
Dennis: “In the United States, if you make the rape charge, who thinks lesser of you? Any woman at any time can make this charge. She pays no price for making the charge. The man, if innocent, pays a horrific price.”
Nafissatou Diallo Is The Maid Who Accused DSK Of Rape.
Dennis: “In this case, if the woman were named, people might come forward to testify about her.”
“In the United States, people do not look at rape victims as flawed human beings.”
“There’s much less dignity in being accused of rape than making the accusation of rape.”
