60 Days Till 60

June 27th might be the beginning of my professional irrelevance. Or it might be the day when something important is proven to the world on behalf of the entire baby boomer generation.

June 27th is the day I turn 60. Beginning 60 days prior, on April 29th, I will be blogging at 60DaysTil60.com and tweeting at @GaryWexler. I will challenge the perception, complacency and irrelevancy that threaten a person turning 60 years old. I will struggle to prove how this next decade in a person’s life, because of wisdom and confidence gained, might possibly be his or her professional best.

Follow me for about 3 to 5 minutes several times a week. Read about the career actions I will take as well as my professional thinking and personal thoughts during this period. Learn of my triumphs and failures. Find out if I accomplish what seems almost impossible in just 60 days. Will 60 people ranging from President Obama to Justin Bieber, answer the question that has kept me awake at nights for months: “Can a man turning 60 in our youth-oriented society, still be considered relevant especially when America is struggling to retain its position in the world?” Will I tumble into irrelevancy or rise and succeed?

These were never my concerns during the first eighteen years of my career as the ageless, hip advertising agency guy, creating award-winning work for clients ranging from Coca Cola to Apple Computer. The human condition has become my focus over the last eighteen years. During this period, I have dedicated my professional expertise to improving the world through marketing nonprofit issues and causes for over 1,500 clients worldwide ranging from the Ford Foundation to the grantees of Steven Spielberg’s foundations.

During the next 60 days, follow me. Root for me. Challenge me. Disagree with me. But I’m going to work hard for 60 days, so you can’t ignore me.

Coming to the Internet April 29th, 60DaysTil60.com.
