Mr. Obama delivered a prepared speech to thousands of supporters of Israel at the AIPAC conference today. These comments define his policy regarding Israel and the Palestinians.
Below is a paragraph taken directly from his speech with my highlighting of certain words. The words of this speech were chosen very carefully.
"Let me be clear. Israel’s security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive, and that allows them to prosper – but any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel’s identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided."
Could someone please explain to me how the Palestinians gain a contiguous state without cutting a swath through the heart of Israel?
If Mr. Obama’s campaign for president has not given you cause to pause and think twice before then this statement certainly should.
