In a 2007 lecture on Leviticus 12 – 13, Dennis Prager says: Twenty five years ago, I was teaching Torah to the Jewish community of Las Vegas on a regular basis. They would fly me in every month.
One time I’m on the plane and I pull out a Tanach (Bible) and start studying it. It’s an LA – Vegas flight where Biblical studies are not the usual reading material.
I notice the guy next to me keeps staring. He’s not thrilled.
Finally, I said, I see you keep looking over. Why?
It turns out the guy is an Israeli who’s visiting the U.S. and all he wants to do is to have fun. The last thing he has on his mind on a flight to Vegas is the Torah. He thought, I can’t get away from this. Twelve thousand miles from home and a guy pulls out on a flight a Torah.
I felt bad for the guy. I tried to comfort him. Don’t worry. This isn’t normal. Enjoy the tables.
