Christina DeRosa pics from the grand opening of Hadaka Sushi Restaurant on February 12, 2008 in West Hollywood, California.

6:30 p.m. Beverly Hilton. I standing beside the red carpet with a dozen photographers including one Mexican-American guy Peter Gonzaga from the Shooting Star Photo Agency (born and raised in America).

This white security guard (upper right in this pic) walks over and asks Gonzaga if he can see his press pass. Out of all the scruffy characters, the guard only asks the dusky one.

Peter waves his badge and the guard walks off.

"Was that racism?" we wonder.

We’d never seen anything like it. The brown photographer has a big fat camera around his neck. Why was he singled out?

Most photographers are not as holy as I am. When the nice lady from Stuttgart walks up, one says, "Miss Muffin, show us your muff."

Later, a photographer says, "Is that Jane Russell? Is she still alive?"

The paparazzi start yelling at her.

"I’ve got two guys," she says.

"You’ve got it going on, Jane," we reply.

Jonathan L. Fischer writes:

Titles like "I Am Legend" and "Spider-Man 3" may not be the most obvious nominees for an awards ceremony that honors films that "resulted in a great increase in either man’s love of God or man’s understanding of God."

But according to Ted Baehr, the founder of Movieguide magazine and its annual awards show, they should be.

The blockbusters starring Will Smith and Tobey Maguire are nominated in the film category for Movieguide’s Epiphany Prizes, the culminating awards at tonight’s ceremony in Beverly Hills, Calif.

"The Epiphany Prizes are intended to encourage spiritual wisdom, knowledge and growth," Mr. Baehr said. "We hope that by honoring these movies and television programs, millions of people will be uplifted and inspired."

"Amazing Grace," "Bella" "In The Shadow of the Moon," "The Ten Commandments" and "The Ultimate Gift" round out the Epiphany’s film category, with "Doctor Who," "Friends and Heroes," "Lost Holiday: The Jim and Suzanne Shemwell Story," "Saving Sarah Cain" and "The Valle of Light" earning nominations for best television programming.

…Mr. Baehr stressed that a nominated film or program need not be explicitly Christian to be relevant to the religion’s teachings.
