The Walk

People can distinguish me from a distance because of my gait. I roll my shoulders fighting for decent posture and swagger.

As professor William F. S. Miles writes in his book Zion in the Desert: American Jews in Israel’s Reform Kibbutzim:

How you walk is not trivial! I have often reflected on the difference between the way Israeli adolescents (especially females) and American undergraduates walk. Israeli girls stride forward with confidence, purpose, determination; Americans kind of waddle ahead, meandering with reluctant feet, to some less defined destination. Even when they do need to get somewhere, they walk as if their feet are poor substitutes for tires.
