Nice Jewish Girls’ Solution To IBS

She writes:

I am an overeater. I have Binge Eating Disorder. I am a Stress Eater.

And I think I have found a way, finally to help myself. That is to eat carrots. Mind you this hasn’t gone on too long – probably for 2 weeks now, but this is an amazing way to help those of us with Binge Eating Disorder, Stress Eating Disorder, and Overeating Disorder.

I’m triggered by foods such as sweets or cheese. Once I start eating them I can’t stop, and I go past the point of no return. There is no help out there for people like me, well until now.

In addition, I also have hypoglycemia, as well as IBS. I do think they are all related.

I started eating carrots about 2 weeks ago. Just on a whim I went to my local Lucky’s supermarket and bought some Grimmway Baby Carrots in the 4 pack. "I’ll try it", I thought. "Why not, can’t hurt, and I like carrots".

So instead of my usual tries with spiking up my blood sugar levels when I feel low, I tried carrots. And I found that I got energy from them, and didn’t crash from them. Then I started reading more, and found out that carrots help regulate your blood sugar levels! Wow, now this is really an EXCELLENT thing. Even better than I thought!

Lots of stuff about how good beta-carotene is for you, prevents heart attacks, etc., Vitamin A being great for your skin, etc, etc etc.

All this was really great stuff, but didn’t apply to me. I need things to help me with my low blood sugar levels, especially when I want to faint or pass out. I need something to help me with overeating (my original thought when I was buying carrots), and just stopping eating doesn’t cut it either. I’ve been to OA (Overeaters Anonymous) and I even had my own OA group. While it really helped me with my mental issues, I was never able to stop overeating, except at the very very beginning of the OA program.

And IBS! This is an added benefit of eating baby carrots. Wow does it HELP me with this. If my stomach hurts I reach for carrots. After I eat a regular meal, I eat carrots. And the carrots soothe me, and fill me up.

I find that I’m eating less portion sizes of foods because I’m pretty filled up with baby carrots. And when I want a snack – I reach for carrots.

Carrots also give you energy as well. I can attest to this as I get low and de-energized a lot due to having hypoglycemia, I pretty much have to eat hourly. So then I’ll have a bag of carrots, and I feel better immediately.

A 3 ounce bag of Grimmway Baby Carrots is just 35 calories. The bags that I buy come in a 4 pack size, and these particular carrots are not woody tasting. They’re juicy and delicious.

Lately I’ve been keeping a weight record. I weigh myself in the mornings and evenings usually, and I’m finding that there’s some movement down the scale. I’m hoping this will really help me in that area as well.

Lastly, I eat carrots as often as I please. If I feel anxiety and want to eat, I go for carrots. If I want to snack, I go for carrots. BTW, carrots help de-stress you and the crunch is also helpful to destress you as well. That’s what the research says.

So, if you’re reading this, try baby carrots, and see if it will help you!
