Unlike the last Mogen David Rabbi (Muskat) who had the thankless job of trying to be the rabbi with Gabe Elias, this one is officially Gabe Elias’s man, hence the "assistant" in the title. Meanwhile, Elias’s legacy will be to have turned the shul sfardi, since everyone under 80 in the building is dark skinned."
