On his radio show today, Dennis Prager says: Glenn Beck deserves congratulations on pulling off what he did. It was a remarkable and loving and warm event for hundreds of thousands of people. What’s most interesting is the coverage by the American news media.
Every mainstream news report I saw spoke of the overwhelmingly white attenders.
Since when do media offer a racial analysis of crowds? As soon as they started debunking conservatives as racists. They call us sexist, racist, bigoted, homophobic, islamophobic, xenophobic. That way you never have to deal with our arguments. You dismiss us as human beings. You don’t bother arguing with a racist.
How you can be a traitor to a color? Saying someone is a traitor to his race is a racist statement.
A predominantly white audience at a concert or a museum is not remarked upon in the media, but if it is a predominantly white gathering that the MSM does not like, then skin color becomes important as a way to dismiss the event.
Those going to Reform synagogues this Rosh Hashanah will be predominantly white but the media won’t note this.
Andy calls: Here’s a list of things that receive predominantly white support but are not recognized as such by the media:
* Attendees at a Barbara Streisand concert
* The viewership of The View, the McNeil News Hour, the CBS Evening News
* Subscribers to Time, Newsweek and the New York Times
* Attendees at a Michael Moore premiere
* Professorship of Women’s Studies departments
* Boards of abortion rights organizations
* Residents of Hancock Park, Hamptons, Scarsdale, Manhattan, Martha’s Vineyard
I did a Google news search for “overwhelmingly black” and got nine results while “overwhelmingly white” got 43 results. “Predominantly black” got 250 results and “predominantly white” got 533.
Prager H1: Glenn Beck held a very, very large rally at the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. The most interesting aspect of the media coverage was the near-universal description of the crowd as being “overwhelmingly” or “predominantly” white… Dennis talks to Randy DeCleene, Senior Advisor for International Politics and Strategic Communications to Major General Tony Cucolo, the Commanding General of the Third Infantry Division. Issues discussed include current situation in Iraq today — status of US troops, political state of the country, upsurge in terror since US withdrawal.
Prager H2: Dennis talks to Tom Emmer, Republican candidate for governor for Minnesota. A solid, salt of the earth, father of seven, Emmer impresses Dennis with his straightforward, no nonsense approach to politics… Dennis returns to his analysis of this past weekend’s Glenn Beck rally… Ben Jealous, head of the NAACP, says that the people who attended the Glenn Beck rally would not agree with the ML King’s “I Have a Dream Speech.” Ironically, Jealous thinks that race is more important than the people who attended the rally, more than ML King…
Prager H3: Howard Dean casually compares Glenn Beck to Father Coughlin, a racist radio personality from the 30’s. Charles Blow of the NY Times says he’s a rhetorical assassin… This is the the NY Times’ prescription for improving the economy — more debt and more taxes. That should work… The Left is preoccupied with race.
