What Does It Mean To Be An American?

From the Museum of Tolerance:

The Museum of Tolerance program is based around the museum’s interactive Finding Our Families Finding Ourselves exhibit, which was originally created in 2003. Finding Our Families Finding Ourselves celebrates the shared experiences common to being part of an American family, and encourages visitors to seek out their own histories, mentors and heroes.

The program enables 4th and 5th grade students to apply critical thinking skills, and introduces children to a broader way of thinking about immigration in the past and present. The two-hour program includes anonymous voting mechanisms, facilitated dialogue, personal stories, and arts-based learning to engage students in examining their assumptions and foster empathy for diverse experiences. Students learn the meaning of immigration and related terms, the varied immigration history of California, and examine common myths and stereotypes about immigrants. Ultimately, the program promotes wider thinking on what it means to be an American.

Perhaps they should learn the thought of Samuel Francis, who said: “The civilization that we as whites created in Europe and America could not have developed apart from the genetic endowments of the creating people, nor is there any reason to believe that the civilization can be successfully transmitted to a different people.”

Could Google Control Elections?

From Politico: Research I have been directing in recent years suggests that Google, Inc., has amassed far more power to control elections—indeed, to control a wide variety of opinions and beliefs—than any company in history has ever had. Google’s search algorithm can easily shift the voting preferences of undecided voters by 20 percent or more—up to 80 percent in some demographic groups—with virtually no one knowing they are being manipulated, according to experiments I conducted recently with Ronald E. Robertson .

Given that many elections are won by small margins, this gives Google the power, right now, to flip upwards of 25 percent of the national elections worldwide. In the United States, half of our presidential elections have been won by margins under 7.6 percent, and the 2012 election was won by a margin of only 3.9 percent—well within Google’s control.

Proof That Donald Trump Was Wrong About Mexico “Not Sending Their Best”

Steve Sailer writes: Donald Trump notoriously ranted, “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best.” As proof of how insanely wrong Trump is, we have this news story from Associated Press:

Hundreds of deported immigrants with mental disabilities may return to US

Published September 26, 2015 Associated Press

LOS ANGELES – Hundreds of immigrants with mental disabilities who were deported from the U.S. after representing themselves in court may be allowed to return to the country under a settlement approved by a judge Friday.

Federal Judge Dolly M. Gee’s ruling will let immigrants with serious mental disabilities request to have their cases reopened in hopes of returning to the U.S. The ruling covers immigrants deported from California, Arizona and Washington between Nov. 21, 2011 and Jan. 27 this year. …

The government identified 900 immigrants who could benefit from the ruling, though there could be more and it’s unclear how many would qualify to have their cases reopened, Iguina said.

Many of those affected are Latino, but she said there’s no way to know exactly how many.

Under the agreement, the federal government said it will help those with reopened cases return to the U.S. and pay for some transportation costs.

Comments to Steve Sailer:

* This is pure Lewis Carroll. The mental-impairment concept implies citizen’s rights — it’s not a legal directive for purposes of correctly dotting I’s and crossing T’s; formally it’s a backstop protection against adverse judicial conclusions, not a parameter of the process. Such willful misinterpretation of the precedent can only be the product of a blindly compliant bureaucratic mentality. As a constitutional and logical proposition it’s absurd/literalistic and anti-intellectual. Not to mention, it turns the function of an immigration court inside-out (amnestied until proven illegal).

* So we are going to pay to bring back mentally deficient people in order to give them another shot in a US court, we’ll pay for that too, to see if they can qualify to legally stay in the US which would entitle them to our social safety net, for which we will also pay.

Whether it is the EU intercepting “migrants” two miles off the coast of Africa and bringing them in the rest of the way, or the US paying to bring in the bottom of the barrel, our governments are actively participating in something that they tell us is just a force of nature and is inevitable. If demographic change is inevitable and we should not oppose it, then shouldn’t the government not have to intervene to promote it?

I wonder how inevitable all this would be if our governments put as much effort into stopping it as they do in promoting it.

* It is also the willingness of the general population (read white gentiles) to allow a small segment of the population with different cultural traditions to control the megaphones by which national conversations, and thus cultural attitudes, are processed.

I can’t help wondering why old stock Americans are incapable of controlling even one major media outlet and using it to communicate an alternate view of ‘acceptable’ viewpoints. Is creativity so alien to the descendants of Goethe and Shakespeare that they cannot write screenplays or produce TV shows?

* America 2.0 — an Asian judge telling Americans they can’t deport ‘mentally disabled’ Hispanic illegals.

* Worth noting that Donald Trump’s older sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, is a Federal Appeals Court Judge, who got her judgeship in part due to his intercession. He may be more familiar with how the gears turn in the judicial branch than other candidates. Perhaps, if he gets elected, he can use that knowledge to his advantage to keep the courts from stymying him.

Democrats Say Violence-Marred West Indian Day Celebration Is Still Very Safe

Comments to Steve Sailer:

What an absence of leadership looks like. An annual event that attracts deadly violence every year should be canceled, period.

Maintaining public safety is the number one responsibility of elected officials, especially the executive branch, to abdicate that because of political correctness or fear of electoral retribution is a dereliction of duty.

* West Indian Day parade violence not to be confused with Puerto Rican Day parade violence or Dominican Day parade violence.

* Many of the woman are practically nude in that raunchy parade and half of them are disgusting looking. NYC cops hate getting assigned to it.

Superforecasting: The Art and Science of Prediction

Philip Tetlock writes: Like many hardball operators before and since, Vladimir Lenin insisted politics, defined broadly, was nothing more than a struggle for power, or as he memorably put it, “kto, kogo?” That literally means “who, whom” and it was Lenin’s shorthand for “Who does what to whom?” Arguments and evidence are lovely adornments but what matters is the ceaseless contest to be the kto, not the kogo. It follows that the goal of forecasting is not to see what’s coming. It is to advance the interests of the forecaster and the forecaster’s tribe. Accurate forecasts may help do that sometimes, and when they do accuracy is welcome, but it is pushed aside if that’s what the pursuit of power requires. Earlier, I discussed Jonathan Schell’s 1982 warning that a holocaust would certainly occur in the near future “unless we rid ourselves of our nuclear arsenals,” which was clearly not an accurate forecast. Schell wanted to rouse readers to join the swelling nuclear disarmament movement. He did. So his forecast was not accurate, but did it fail? Lenin would say it did exactly what it was supposed to do.

COMMENTS TO STEVE SAILER:

* ‘Forecasting’ to ‘promote the interests of the individual or tribe’ is, of course, not forecasting but propaganda pure and simple.

As Tetlock notes, the way to call out propaganda is to take heed of who is actually issuing the propaganda, and what does he personally have to gain from disseminating those opinions.

* Hence – eg ‘Climate Change’ – once people have control of the levers of power they can make whatever forecasts will best serve their agenda, and everyone else has to believe it or be punished.

* A good, blatantly obvious and very recent example of this can be seen with official statements coming out of Germany regarding the so-called ‘migrant’ crisis.

We are most sternly lectured that the ‘migrants’ are ‘good’ for Germany since, as we are reminded, that Germany has ‘dire demographics’ and is in urgent need of a transfusion of young, fresh blood to do all the work, (the rantings of vampires, apparently).

Strange that a mere 6 months ago, before all this rubbish kicked off, nobody but nobody, least of all the German government was sending out desperate appeals to the world to round up every spare warm body in sight and to pack them off to man German factories.

As Johnny Rotten famously smirked ‘ Ha..ha..ha….ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?’

I’m Concerned About The Low Quality Of Many Anti-Jewish Websites

When you clearly understand the competing agendas of different groups, you are better situated to reduce needless suffering. Also, the accurate application of criticism and stigma improves behavior. Jews, like all groups, benefit from accurate criticism, so I want that criticism, when accurate, presented in a compelling fashion so people can hear it and evaluate it fairly.

No one group can rule the world, not even one as intelligent and dedicated as Jews. We have to share the hegemony and to do that peacefully, we need to understand what is going on.

When the major Jewish organizations do something, they usually do it with great competence. Just look at their websites. They’re superb. Cruise over to Wiesenthal.com, for instance, and you immediately get a feeling of credibility.

On the other hand, anti-Jewish websites such as Balder.org don’t give you a feeling of credibility, even when they make good points:

The Southern Poverty Lawcenter – SPLC

A millitant organization concerned with immigrant rights, anti-racism, monitoring ‘right wing organizations’ the usual lot.

Founded in 1971 by Jewish lawyer Joe Levin and Morris Seligman Dees (not Jewish but born into a philosemitic family who gave him his Jewish first name after Joseph Seligman; president Lincoln’s Jewish banker), currently headed by Julian Bond (black, communist sympathiser. Bond’s father’s first experience with racism in 1916 was with a Jew.. )

Two of the center’s most well known activists are Mark Potok and Heidi Beirich. (both Jewish) Alexander Zaitchik is a former SPLC operative who now continues doing the SPLC’s work in another context.

The SPLC has a long-standing reputation for manipulating statistics and exaggerating the extent of “racism” or “hate” in America. The group earns millions a year by making false claims about ‘hate groups’ and the dangers they pose to America.

Supposedly as of January 2010: Of the twenty-one members of the Southern Poverty Law Center senior program staff, twelve (12) are Jews. This is a numerical representation of 57%. Of the eleven (11) members of the Southern Poverty Law Center board of directors, six (6) are Jews or have Jewish spouses.

This is a numerical representation of 55%. Jews are approximately 2% of the U.S. population.* This means that Jews are over-represented on the Southern Poverty Law Center senior program staff by a factor of 28.5 times, or 2,850 [two thousand eight hundred and fifty percent] percent, and over-represented on the Southern Poverty Law Center board of directors by a factor of 27.5 times, or 2.750 %.

This extreme numerical over-representation of Jews on the Southern Poverty Law Center senior program staff and board of directors cannot be explained away as a coincidence or as the result of mere random chance.

You must ask yourself how such an incredibly small and extremely unrepresentative minority ethnic group that only represents 2% of the United States population could so dominate America’s leading “civil rights” organization.

The “None is Too Many” guilt trip does not apply to the Syrian refugee crisis

In the following essay, a Canadian Jew calls out the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the organized Jewish community for using the Holocaust as a battering ram to force Canada to take in more Muslim immigrants.

How many Jews and non-Jews in the West will be raped and killed because of this massive importation of Muslims? Will those Jewish leaders who advocated Muslim immigration be held accountable for the slaughter that results?

Neil Flagg writes:

Guilt-trip politics is rearing its ugly head this election season, as the searing trauma of the Holocaust is being used to try to turn Canadians – particularly, Canadian Jews – against Stephen Harper this election season.

Perhaps you are familiar with the phrase “None Is Too Many”. It was coined by Toronto History professors Hesh Troper and Irving Abella in their 1983 book, None is Too Many: Canada and the Jews of Europe 1933-1948 to describe the xenophobic attitude of the Canadian government in the William Lyon Mackenzie King era.

While Jews often attribute the quote to Mackenzie King himself, it is actually part of a second-hand anecdote reported to Troper and Abella, attributed to an anonymous immigration official in Ottawa. According to their unverified account of the incident, when asked how many Jews would be allowed to immigrate to Canada after the war, the unnamed immigration official apparently replied “None is too many”.

Led by the lawyers who operate the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre, an organization that fights antisemitism in the name of the now-deceased Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal, the Liberal Jewish community is using the loaded phrase and its emotional implications to turn the Syrian refugee crisis into a battering-ram against Stephen Harper.

Even before FSWC President Avi Benlolo released his statement last week calling on Canada to open the floodgates to Syrian refugees in the name of “Tikkun Olam” (repairing the world) during this High Holiday season for Jews, I saw several liberal Jews in my circles using “None is Too Many” in beating up the Prime Minister over refugees and immigration. It’s become the knee-jerk reaction to any defense of the Conservative government’s record and platform.

In the name of fairness, I’d like to take apart this meme, and set the record straight for my fellow Jews being misled by this guilt-trip.

1) “None is Too Many” had nothing to do with the MS St. Louis, and the MS St. Louis had little to do with the Holocaust. Many in the Jewish community and elsewhere falsely believe that “none is too many” was said in connection with Canada’s refusal to accept the 900 German Jews on the St. Louis in May 1939, who were turned away from landing in Havana after a sudden change of refugee policy by Cuban President Bru.

Both the US Democratic President Roosevelt, and Canada’s Liberal PM Mackenzie King, refused to let the boat dock at American or Canadian ports, and thus it was forced to return to Europe. Contrary to the mythological tale of the St. Louis that many repeat to this day, the passengers were not sent back across the sea to the German death camps. The St. Louis docked back at Antwerp, Belgium on June 17, 1939 – three months before World War II began.

Not a single passenger was returned to Germany, where the Wansee Conference was still nearly three years away from convening. From Antwerp, all the refugees were accepted by free countries. The United Kingdom took 288 passengers, France took 224, Belgium 214, and the Netherlands 181. It is estimated that up to 254 former passengers from this journey did not survive the war years, certainly a tragedy, but hardly the “Canada sent back Jews to the slaughter” narrative that is usually implied.

2) Canada’s refugee policy under Prime Minister Harper is anything but “None is Too Many”. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency, Canada was a world leader in refugee resettlement in 2014, ranking second only to the United States in admissions (12,300), and first in granting citizenship to former refugees (27,200). In contrast, the Liberal Mackenzie King administration admitted just 5,000 Jewish refugees during the entire period of 1933-48.

3) The Jews of Europe of the 1930s would have presented no national security risk to Canada. On the other hand, it is downright delusional to pretend the same about an immediate importation of tens of thousands of Syrians in 2015.

4) Sadly, there is no realistic way to pluck the truly desperate refugees out of harm’s way at present. Just as it was impossible to get Jewish refugees out of Europe during WWII, it is impossible to get large numbers of targeted minorities out of ISIS territory today without large numbers of boots on the ground in Syria and Iraq. Every conservative I know would be proud to airlift every Yazidi and Christian possible to safety starting now; however, in this age of Obamian leading-from-behind, the free world has no stomach for the only real solution to the enslavement and massacre of these innocents – a war of liberation.

5) Islamic refugees from Islamic civil wars are, frankly, not a Jewish problem. Aside from the aforementioned minority communities under targeted persecution, the vast majority of refugees in this crisis are Muslims from Muslim states in a Muslim-dominated part of the world. The Islamic world is completely hostile to Judaism and the Jewish people, and the concept of persecuted Jews in a similar situation being granted asylum in an Islamic country is laughable. While there are certainly moral imperatives in Judaism to help and welcome your neighbours, there is no admonition – “tikkun olam” notwithstanding – to aid your enemy. In fact, most rabbis would tell you that aiding your enemy is strictly prohibited. (Unfortunately, most liberal rabbis refuse to recognize that Islam’s holy books explicitly target Jews as enemies, but that’s for another day.) There are, however, huge Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Yemen, and Egypt, that would be logical lands for large-scale refugee resettlement.

There’s no doubt that the “None is too many” platitude is going to be seen more and more in the coming weeks, as liberal rabbis from the Reform and Conservative movements will be sermonizing on the topic at upcoming Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur services. Now that you know the historical inaccuracies and logical fallacies involved in applying it to the current situation in and around Syria, don’t be afraid to challenge the pushers of this meme, and let them know the truth.

Donald Trump’s 1999 Tour Of The Museum Of Tolerance

Dana Milbank of the Washington Post writes:

Donald Trump is the monster the GOP created

…Buchanan at the time [1999] had been talking about criminals entering illegally from Mexico. He said other politicians were afraid that “if they speak out against illegal immigration and they speak out against the crimes that are being committed, suddenly they’ll be considered insensitive, or they say, ‘We might lose the Hispanic vote.’”

Trump back then issued a statement saying he hates intolerance because in New York, “a town with different races, religions and peoples, I have learned to work with my brother man.” I accompanied him as he underscored the point by touring the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.

“He seems to be a racist,” Trump said of Buchanan.

Now Trump is the one talking about Mexico sending us drugs, crime and rapists. His shift is hardly surprising given his audience — and his competitors. Scott Walker talks about self-deportation, Graham talks about ending birthright citizenship, Ben Carson blames illegal immigrants in part for the measles outbreak, Rand Paul describes as lawbreakers those who were brought to the United States illegally as children, and even relatively moderate candidates such as Bush and Marco Rubio have hardened their immigration positions. Ted Cruz actually praised Trump.
