It was the highest such level since at least 1913, the first year for which the I.R.S. has data.<\/p>\n<p>The top 1 percent of earners <a title=\"See Figure 2, on page 7 (PDF).\" href=\"http:\/\/elsa.berkeley.edu\/~saez\/saez-UStopincomes-2007.pdf\">took home 23.5 percent<\/a> of income, up from 9 percent three decades earlier.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Times buried the above&nbsp;information at the&nbsp;bottom of a&nbsp;long article&nbsp;on the&nbsp;economic problems&nbsp;of&nbsp;the super-rich.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The rich, as a group, are no longer getting richer.
