I was sitting in a Starbucks in Van Nuys yesterday afternoon reading the book "Golden Codgers" by Richard Ellmann. It inspired me to make half a dozen Facebook status updates, but here’s the thing — halfway through my updates, I’d lose the courage of my convictions. There was only so much truth I was willing to share.<\/p>\n

For instance, I wrote: "Luke Ford<\/a> <\/span>holds his Blackberry and longs for the call or email that will transform his…"<\/p>\n

If I had continued with such honesty, I would’ve written "lonely life."<\/p>\n

But I could not face sharing that. So I ended with a lame cliche, "vale of tears."<\/p>\n

Why can’t I have the courage of my Facebook convictions?<\/p>\n
