\nIn a recording of Yosef\u2019s weekly Saturday night lecture\u00a0obtained by Channel 10, the rabbi can be heard saying, \u201cAccording to Jewish law, it\u2019s forbidden for a non-Jew to live in the Land of Israel \u2013 unless he has accepted the seven Noachide laws.\u201d
\n\u201cIf he\u2019s not willing to accept one of them, [which is] not to commit suicide, if he\u2019s not willing to accept this, you send him to Saudi Arabia,\u201d Yosef continued, apparently referring to suicide attackers.\u00a0
\nThe seven Noachide laws include prohibitions on idolatry, blasphemy, murder, illicit sexual relations, stealing and eating the limb of a living animal, plus a positive commandment to establish court systems. \u00a0
\n\u201cIf our hands were strong, if we had governing power, then non-Jews shouldn\u2019t live in the Land of Israel,\u201d Yosef added. \u201cBut our hands aren\u2019t strong. We\u2019re awaiting our righteous Messiah, who will be the true and complete redemption, and then they\u2019ll do this.\u201d
\nThe reason some non-Jews are allowed to live in Israel, Yosef continued, is to serve the Jewish population. \u201cWho will be the servers? Who will be our assistants? Therefore, we leave them here in the land,\u201d he said.
\nTwo weeks ago, Yosef sparked a storm when he used his weekly lecture to discuss the recent wave of Palestinian stabbing attacks.\u00a0
\n\u201cIf someone is coming with a knife \u2013 it\u2019s a commandment to kill him,\u201d Yosef said. \u201cIf someone is coming to kill you, kill him first. Don\u2019t start being afraid of all kinds of … that they\u2019ll make a court case against you afterward, or that some [Israel Defense Forces] chief of staff will come and say something different.\u201d
\n\u201cThis also deters them,\u201d he added. \u201cThe moment a terrorist knows that if he comes with a knife, he won\u2019t return alive, this will deter them. Therefore, it\u2019s a commandment to kill him.\u201d
\nIn that lecture, Yosef was responding to remarks made by IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot last month. During a meeting with students in Bat Yam, Eisenkot was asked by one student about the army\u2019s rules of engagement. The student charged that these rules endanger the soldiers.
