* It\u2019s clear that leftists like this kid want Trump to be president. They\u2019re not really trying to prevent him from being president \u2013 they\u2019re protesting and opposing him as if he were already president. Even when leftism is dominant, like it is now, it\u2019s not comfortable with actually being in charge. It\u2019s only really comfortable in opposing oppressive authority figures and being in a permanent revolutionary mode. Trump is sort of a pop culture caricature of such an oppressive authority figure, and he\u2019s even sort of indulging them and playing the part in a campy way, which excites these people even more. They want Trump, they need Trump as president since it confirms their worldview and gives meaning to their lives as revolutionaries fighting unjust, oppressive authorities. It\u2019s just not the same with Obama or leftists in charge, which ultimately only leads to cognitive dissonance and disillusionment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
