Washington Post<\/a>:<\/p>\n Former CIA director Michael Hayden believes there is a legitimate possibility that the U.S. military would refuse to follow orders given by Donald Trump if the Republican front-runner becomes president and decides to make good on certain campaign pledges.<\/p>\n Hayden, who also headed the National Security Agency from 1999 to 2005, made the provocative statement on Friday during an appearance on HBO\u2019s \u201cReal Time with Bill Maher.\u201d Trump, fresh off a string of primary victories, has yet to secure his party\u2019s nomination, but Hayden said the candidate\u2019s rhetoric already raises troubling questions.<\/p>\n \u201cI would be incredibly concerned if a President Trump governed in a way that was consistent with the language that candidate Trump expressed during the campaign,\u201d Hayden said during the interview with Maher…<\/p>\n Politifact<\/a> has pointed out that targeting terrorists\u2019 family members is barred by the Geneva Conventions.<\/p>\n During his appearance on \u201cReal Time,\u201d Hayden cited Trump\u2019s pledge to kill family members as being among his most troubling campaign statements.<\/p>\n \u201cThat never even occurred to you, right?\u201d Maher asked.<\/p>\n \u201cGod, no!\u201d Hayden replied. \u201cLet me give you a punchline: If he were to order that once in government, the American armed forces would refuse to act.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s quite a statement, sir,\u201d Maher said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou are required not to follow an unlawful order,\u201d Hayden added. \u201cThat would be in violation of all the international laws of armed conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019ve given us a great reason not to support Trump.
