{"id":8450,"date":"2009-03-12T15:09:22","date_gmt":"2009-03-12T23:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=8450"},"modified":"2009-03-12T15:09:22","modified_gmt":"2009-03-12T23:09:22","slug":"hasidic-rabbi-convicted-of-molesting-his-daughter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=8450","title":{"rendered":"Hasidic Rabbi Convicted Of Molesting His Daughter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/ny_crime\/2009\/03\/11\/2009-03-11_rabbi_israel_weingarten_found_guilty_of_.html\">The New York Daily News reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>A Hasidic rabbi who defended himself against charges of molesting his daughter over a seven-year period was convicted on all counts Wednesday by a jury in <a title=\"Brooklyn Supreme Court\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/topics\/Brooklyn+Supreme+Court\">Brooklyn Federal Court<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, now 27, was escorted into the courtroom by <a title=\"United States\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/topics\/United+States\">U.S.<\/a> marshals for the verdict, and sat in the front row opposite six siblings, ages 13 to 23, who support their father <a title=\"Israel\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/topics\/Israel\">Israel<\/a> Wein.garten.<\/p>\n<p>Showing no emotion after he was found guilty of transporting the victim to <a title=\"Belgium\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/topics\/Belgium\">Belgium<\/a>, Israel and <a title=\"New York\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/topics\/New+York\">New York<\/a> to commit sex crimes against her, <a title=\"Yakev Weingarten\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/topics\/Yakev+Weingarten\">Weingarten<\/a> complained to the judge that he did not have time to prepare for the trial.<\/p>\n<p>Weingarten faces up to 50 years in prison when he&#8217;s sentenced by <a title=\"John Gleeson\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/topics\/John+Gleeson\">Judge John Gleeson<\/a> on April 3.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Daily News reports: A Hasidic rabbi who defended himself against charges of molesting his daughter over a seven-year period was convicted on all counts Wednesday by a jury in Brooklyn Federal Court.
