The Guardian<\/a>: The comedian Sacha Baron Cohen and actor Isla Fisher are donating \u00a3670,000 to help Syrian refugees, the charities receiving the money have said.<\/p>\n The couple are giving half the money to Save the Children to pay for measles vaccinations for children in northern Syria.<\/p>\n They are donating the other half to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to help refugees in Syria and neighbouring countries, particularly women and children, with health care, shelter and sanitation.<\/p>\n More than four million refugees have fled conflict in Syria for the relative safety of the neighbouring countries, according to the United Nations.<\/p>\n Millions more have been forced to leave their homes for other parts of the country.<\/p>\n Justin Forsyth, chief executive of Save the Children, said the money would \u201csave many thousands of lives and protect some of the most vulnerable children\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cBy allowing us to make their generous donation to Syrian children public, Sacha and Isla are helping highlight the tragedy of the issue today,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n David Miliband, the former British foreign secretary who is president of the IRC, called their gift a \u201cgreat expression of humanity\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I wager they’ve never given such sums to help Jews or the West.
