Getting off the truck, Doirin-Holder missed a step and landed on her left foot, suffering a fracture, sources said. …

“If you’re going to get hurt in the firehouse checking a rig, what would happen at a fire?” an insider asked.

On Nov. 6, Doirin-Holder celebrated her FDNY graduation as one of four new female Bravest, bringing the number of women to 49 — an all-time high in the FDNY’s 150-year history. …

Doirin-Holder, who turns 40 this month, is one of 282 “priority hires” passed over in 1999 and 2000. Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis ordered they must get preference as victims of past discrimination against minorities.

It was Doirin-Holder’s third attempt to pass the academy. …

Doirin-Holder started another class in early 2014 but dropped out because of an injury. The FDNY then gave her a desk job and kept her on the payroll at top firefighter salary, $76,488…

Since she was injured on duty, she is eligible for a disability pension that would pay three-quarters of her annual salary, tax-free, if deemed unfit to return.

COMMENTS:

* In my city, commercial apartment units are regularly inspected by the fire department. The most annoying inspector was a woman, who didn’t like all he newspapers and books in my place. (I got rid of the papers, but kept the books.)

This is the sort of bureaucratic position women can easily fill. Watch for their number to increase.

Actually, my city had one of the most prominent sex discrimination cases after NYC. Seems our standards were so high, they were literally illegal.

Can’t have high standards, now, can we?

* In my line of work I see people’s full income. The percentage of incomes in the US that are unearned or some type of scam (usually completely legal) is shocking.

I have yet to see a person even slightly embarrassed by their income source. Many of them should be.

* Hits the ghetto-lottery almost immediately. If she were just a welfare recipient, which is what she primarily is, the payout would be much less each month. Now it’s bigger bucks thanks to the taxpayers. Even were the name not a tipoff you would just know she was black.

* You guys have this all wrong, as usual. Here’s an article by a battalion chief, who comes down hard on gender discrimination and the importance of having the right culture set at the top:

After checking LinkedIn, I note that the writer, one Dave Hollenbach, coincidentally wrote this article, and another on gender equality, in the same year that he finished a masters degree in public administration, and was promoted to his current job.

I should think that having the right stance on this vital issue is very important – to your career, anyway. Snarky articles on “firewatchers” could be holding men back from advancement all over the country.

* My great-uncle died in the line of duty as a NYC fireman. My uncle (not great, but a great guy, despite working for the mob in his younger days) has the log to prove it.

So, you know what? F*ck these AA hires. They are spitting in the face of every dumb ass Mick who ever ran into a burning building.

* The NYPD however, had a heroic female who died. Her husband was a bit miffed recently about how silly our country has become in the 14 years since.

* Of all the unqualified women of color out there, couldn’t they have at least hired one that wasn’t obese?

* Today is the beginning of Advent, as I learned at my local Starbucks. Celebrate with this lovely bit of Americana. It has EVERYTHING. Sexism, racism, cultural appropriation, Mexicans in sombreros, subtropical yelping in the background, otherization, objectification, “Jose.” This song is a living macroaggression.

And it’s a great song!!!

Steve Sailer writes: It’s not well-known, but on 9/11 the death toll included 343 firemen and zero firewomen (who are known to firemen as “firewatchers”).
