REPORT<\/a>: Billionaire George Soros\u2019 philanthropy is bad news for Israel, according to an in-depth report from the NGO-Monitor watchdog group.<\/p>\n The report listed the many causes in Israel, or pertaining to Israel, that are funded by Soros\u2019 Open Society Foundations.<\/p>\n \u2026<\/p>\n Another recipient of OSF funding is the Institute for Middle East Understanding, which, NGO-Monitor reports, is headed by staff who have accused Israel of war crimes and have termed Israel an \u201capartheid state.\u201d<\/p>\n Among the Israeli recipients is Adalah, which promotes the so-called \u201cright of return\u201d to Israel, which would allow millions of descendants of Arabs who fled Israel during the War of Independence to claim Israel as their home<\/p>\n OSF also funds Al Haq, an Arab organization based in the Palestinian Authority-controlled city of Ramallah, north of Jerusalem. NGO-Monitor\u2019s researchers described Al-Haq director Shawan Jabarin as \u201ca human rights campaigner by day and a terrorist by night,\u201d who is among the senior members of the PFLP terrorist group.<\/p>\n The extreme-left Israeli group B\u2019Tselem also receives OSF funds. B\u2019Tselem is notorious for publishing one-sided reports, and for inflating Arab civilian casualty figures. For example, the group included hundreds of Hamas policemen in Gaza as \u201cnon-combatants,\u201d and counted Sheikh Ahmed Yassin \u2013 then the leader of Hamas \u2013 as not a definite combatant.<\/p>\n \u2026<\/p>\n The report listed several other controversial, far-left Israeli groups that receive direct or indirect OSF Funding, including Rabbis for Human Rights, Ir Amim, Yesh Din and the New Israel Fund.<\/p>\n \u2026<\/p>\n Soros Fund Management, the family office of the billionaire investor George Soros, has sold its stake in SodaStream, the soda making appliance producer that profits from the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and was made popular by actress Scarlett Johansson\u2019s endorsement.<\/p>\n The decision comes as a number of big international investors, including the fund linked to the Microsoft founder Bill Gates, join in a burgeoning financial boycott of Israel amid a push by the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement and other groups seeking more rights for Palestinians.<\/p>\n SodaStream, headquartered in the Israeli city of Lod, has its main factory in the West Bank settlement of Ma\u2019ale Adumim.<\/p>\n \u2026<\/p>\n From a 2007 article written by Soros himself:<\/p>\n \u2026 Israel, with the strong backing of the United States, refused to recognize the democratically elected Hamas government.<\/p>\n One explanation is to be found in the pervasive influence of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which strongly affects both the Democratic and the Republican parties. AIPAC\u2019s mission is to ensure American support for Israel but in recent years it has overreached itself. It became closely allied with the neocons and was an enthusiastic supporter of the invasion of Iraq.<\/p>\n Whether the Democratic Party can liberate itself from AIPAC\u2019s influence is highly doubtful.
