{"id":74392,"date":"2015-09-11T13:59:29","date_gmt":"2015-09-11T21:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=74392"},"modified":"2015-09-11T13:59:29","modified_gmt":"2015-09-11T21:59:29","slug":"the-olympics-has-destroyed-womanhood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=74392","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;The Olympics has destroyed womanhood&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-2185510\/Newspaper-columnist-provokes-worldwide-outrage-saying-Olympic-Games-destroying-female-figure.html\">Daily Mail<\/a>: A Turkish newspaper columnist has been heavily criticised after writing an article which said the Olympic Games is destroying the female figure.<br \/>\nThe piece &#8211; called Womanhood is dying at the Olympics&#8217; &#8211; was written by Yuksel Aytug and was published in the daily newspaper Sabah and on the paper&#8217;s website.<br \/>\nHowever, it soon spread around the world by saying the Games was distorting women&#8217;s bodies and that extra points should be given to female athletes based on how feminine they looked.<br \/>\nAccording to Hurriyet Daily News, he said: &#8216;Broad-shouldered, flat-chested women with small hips; [they are] totally indistinguishable from men.<br \/>\n&#8216;Their breasts \u2013 the symbol of womanhood, motherhood \u2013 flattened into stubs as they were seen as mere hindrances to speed.<br \/>\n&#8216;I am not even talking about female javelin throwers, shot-put athletes, weightlifters, wrestlers and boxers.&#8217;<br \/>\nHe added that the appearance of many female Olympians was &#8216;pathetic&#8217;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Daily Mail: A Turkish newspaper columnist has been heavily criticised after writing an article which said the Olympic Games is destroying the female figure.
