Well, wonder no more. They are; and it\u2019s worse \u2014 far worse \u2014 than you can possibly imagine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lukeford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/110909-textbook-003.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lukeford.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/110909-textbook-003-288x300.jpg\" alt=\"110909-textbook-003\" width=\"288\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-63524\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Consider, if you will, McGraw-Hill\u2019s Our Democratic Heritage, a textbook designed for third-graders and published in 2010. If you\u2019d assume that it was intended to teach kids about America\u2019s founding and its institutions of government, you\u2019d assume wrong.<\/p>\n<p>The book is a veritable cornucopia of left wing spin.<\/p>\n<p>There is but one sentence devoted to the Bill of Rights. It reads, \u201cThese rights [of citizens] are listed in the part of the U.S. Constitution called the Bill of Rights\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Two pages cover the Declaration of Independence<br \/>\n\u2022 Two pages describe the Constitution, all of which are devoted to the three branches of government and separation of powers<br \/>\n\u2022 No pages are devoted to James Madison and the authors of the Constitution; there is no mention of federalism<br \/>\n\u2022 Six pages are spent describing the background of Paul Revere<br \/>\n\u2022 Ten pages are devoted to the history of democracy in ancient Greece.<br \/>\n\u2022 George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are mentioned only in passing, almost as if they are immaterial scenery on the road to diversity and social Utopia.<\/p>\n<p>In the section entitled \u201cAmerica\u2019s Freedom Fighters\u201d:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Eight pages are spent covering the life of Frederick Douglass<br \/>\n\u2022 Five pages on Susan B. Anthony<br \/>\n\u2022 Six pages on Mary McLeod Bethune,<br \/>\n\u2022 Zero pages are devoted to the life of Abraham Lincoln<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the entire Civil War is described only as a backdrop to the lives of Frederick Douglas and Mary McLeod Bethune.<\/p>\n<p>In the section entitled \u201cThe Fight for Freedom Continues\u201d:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Seven pages are spent on praise for FDR (including 2 pages on Pearl Harbor)<br \/>\n\u2022 Six pages on Eleanor Roosevelt<br \/>\n\u2022 Six pages are devoted to Thurgood Marshall<br \/>\n\u2022 Six pages are spent on LBJ\u2019s life and the wondrous effects of \u201cGreat Society\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 Six pages are spent on Cesar Chavez and the lionization of the labor movement<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Blog post: Anybody with a 3rd grader out there better check out their new textbook from McGraw-Hill; Wondering whether elementary school students are truly indoctrinated in the left wing agenda?
