One of Europe’s largest Jewish associations has written a letter to EU ministers asking for gun laws to be relaxed to allow Jews to arm themselves to protect against terror attacks.
\nRabbi Menachem Margolin, the head of the European Jewish Association, made the request in the wake of the Paris attacks in which four Jews were killed inside a deli in the French capital.
\nIn the letter, dated January 13, he asks for permission for ‘people in the Jewish communities and institutions to own weapons’ to protect against ‘anti-Semitism, racism, and intolerance’.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Should Jews be privileged over non-Jews in carrying arms?<\/p>\n

My instinct as a convert to Orthodox Judaism is to always ask about any minority request, what if everyone did this? In this case, I think it would be wonderful if there was widespread gun ownership in Europe, but I am disappointed that the head of the European Jewish Association has asked for guns for only Jews. Don’t the goyim have every right to defend themselves?<\/p>\n

Jewish organizations are often at the forefront of the confiscation of guns from citizens but now this European Jewish Association wants special privileges for Jews.<\/p>\n

Jews used to champion free speech, but increasingly in Europe and Australia, some Jewish organizations are pushing to criminalize hate speech and Holocaust revisionism.<\/p>\n

Is it good for the Jews? That’s an important question for Jews to ask but we should not begrudge those of other heritages asking what is good for their people. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
