{"id":55822,"date":"2014-07-03T16:16:55","date_gmt":"2014-07-04T00:16:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=55822"},"modified":"2014-10-24T04:57:57","modified_gmt":"2014-10-24T12:57:57","slug":"does-alexander-technique-promote-secure-attachment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=55822","title":{"rendered":"Does Alexander Technique Promote Secure Attachment?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are the traits of mindfulness: &#8220;<A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/The-Mindful-Therapist-Interpersonal-Neurobiology\/dp\/0393706451\">Acting with awareness<\/a>, being nonjudgmental, having emotional equilibrium (&#8220;nonreactivity&#8221;), labeling and describing with words the internal world, and self-observation&#8230; Mindfulness meditation promotes our nine middle prefrontal functions: bodily regulation, attunement, emotional balance, fear modulation, flexibility of response, insight, empathy, morality and intuition.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>I suspect Alexander Technique, a form of mindfulness most often practiced in the western world, promotes secure attachment.<\/p>\n<p>We all respond to the turbulence of life in one of three patterns &#8212; anger, sadness or fear. Angry people turn their frustration on to others, sad people become obsessed with rejection and abandonment (me!), and fearful people become obsessed with their fears.
