In fact speaking with people who heard Dr. Ford&#8217;s presentation, it became clear that much, if not most, of Adventism is aligned theologically with Desmond Ford where atonement is concerned. Imagine that! Adventism and Desmond Ford in agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The live updates hit a slight SNAFU amid my running to and fro at Loma Linda today. Namely, my computer decided to wipe all my notes from Dr. Ford&#8217;s presentation. You know what they say about the best laid plans&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So I&#8217;m now sitting alone in the balcony of the Campus Hill Church as more crowds gather ahead of the 8:00 presentation by Dr. Ford entitled &quot;This I believe.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Reminiscing on Dr. Ford&#8217;s presentation earlier today, what really struck me was the force with which he demands that the forensic view of atonement (that a sacraficial death was necessary and Jesus was that sacrifice on our behalf so we do not have to pay the penalty for sin).<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ford spoke eloquently and passionately with a pastor&#8217;s heart.  He filled his homily with zippy one-liners:<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It doesn&#8217;t matter who you are but rather <cite>whose<\/cite> you are.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;You don&#8217;t have to be good to be saved, but you must be saved to be good.&quot;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jared Wright writes: When Desmond Ford speaks, Adventists still listen.
