Many of the best things that ever happened to me were given to me. My biggest scoops were given to me. At various times in my life, I got adopted by great people. I got this great job in 1984-85 cleaning and gardening at the Boyne Island Shopping Center. I more than doubled my pay by snagging this contract and it all came about because of Mike, a friend of my brother Paul. He got it for me. I read for about three hours a day on this job. It was sweet. On my own, I can work hard and connect with people but I rarely accomplish anything great. I can go along for years working nowhere jobs.
