I was reading Dennis Pager’s convention comments on your site and, for various reasons he touched on (and some he didn’t) I was wondering if you’d put me in touch with him. Why? Well, for starters, I’m one of his elusive black Republicans (Hip-Hop generation) and I think he’d like to discuss\/discover what I find attractive about the party – and what I think it’s doing wrong regarding bringing other blacks in.<\/div>\n

Second is, while I can’t claim to have "predicted the four nominees", I think I’m the only person who chose the two at the top of the ticket – no "ifs" or "ands" or "buts" or waffling of any kind – and I did it all the way back in January<\/a>. What did I know, when the field was crowded, that other missed? How could I be so sure? <\/div>\n

The answer to those questions would lead into my third (and what you know is my main) topic of interest: cultism. See, I desperately want to talk to someone "serious" (someone who’s taken seriously) about the influence, and contours, of NewAge belief in American society and the world. I think it’s the story of our times – "the big one" – but it’s compartmentalized, punted aside, or danced around, in a manner that, both, allows the cult to grow and assists it in creating the sensation of existential dislocation many, if not most, Americans live with. I was talking about the "Cult of Obama" long before everyone else (I saw it coalescing when the campaigning got to Iowa). What was happening to create it – or, at least, the sensation<\/em> of it that others noticed<\/a>? I think I’m one of the few people in America that can answer that question, which, to me, is a travesty – and dangerous – because it should be taken as evidence (and a warning) to others how easily this country can slip into some dark People’s Temple<\/em>-type places it doesn’t want to go.<\/div>\n

If you decide to do this, please tell DP I’m 47 – same age as Barack – and, despite the unhinged quality of TMR (swearing, provocative photos, etc.) I’m alright in person, capable of speaking in whole sentences without being offensive. <\/div>\n

Anyway, that’s it. You’d be doing me a big favor (which I won’t forget). You know I love you, man. Did I ever tell you I’m still working for that synagogue I wrote about? We’re practically family now, so maybe Prager might want to talk about that as well: I mean, when my life bumped into cultism, practically crippling me, Jews were the only group (as opposed to individuals) to believe me, help me, and embrace me. I think that was because of their history with the Holocaust, and, yea, there’s another warning – for Americans – embedded in that<\/em> observation, too,..<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
