In seventh grade, I got together with Seventh-Day Adventist friends one Sabbath at Pacific Union College. They called the girl I liked, Denise, and asked her who she liked. She mentioned three different guys. One of them was me. I got so excited by this phone thing, that I called Denise on the phone every day for about six weeks until word got back to me that she was complaining about the harassment. My obsessive compulsive neediness has cost me much in life. I understand it now as symptoms of love addiction — the inability to stand on your own two feet but to rather seek out a rescuer and then obsess over him or her (love addiction does not have to be romantic or sexual, you can have it for an institution, a shul, a church, a teacher, a boss, etc).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
