With Tebow, that gap seems so narrow as to be invisible. (\u201cThere\u2019s not an ounce of artifice or phoniness or Hollywood in this kid Tebow,\u201d ESPN\u2019s Rick Reilly wrote last year of the quarterback\u2019s charitable works, \u201cand I\u2019ve looked everywhere for it.\u201d) He fascinates, in part, because he behaves \u2014 at least in public, and at least for now \u2014 the way one would expect more Christians to behave if their faith were really true.<\/p>\n<p>But the fascination doesn\u2019t end there. Tebow\u2019s religion doesn\u2019t just promise a path to personal transformation. It claims that every human life is actually a story with an Author, and that a genuinely Christian life should make that divine Authorship manifest.<\/p>\n<p>So in Tebow\u2019s case, the link between faith and football can\u2019t actually be broken.
