{"id":3779,"date":"2008-08-18T14:32:32","date_gmt":"2008-08-18T22:32:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=3779"},"modified":"2008-08-18T17:25:25","modified_gmt":"2008-08-19T01:25:25","slug":"please-pray-for-joan-hyler","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=3779","title":{"rendered":"Please Pray For Joan Hyler"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><A HREF=\"https:\/\/lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=3774\">The Hollywood producer was hit by a car Friday night and is in critical condition at UCLA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I noticed this recommendation in one of the emails: &quot;It is best to use her Hebrew name and say your prayers in the name of Miriam, daughter of Jane and son of Yehoshua.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Why would God care whether you pray for &quot;Joan Hyler&quot; or &quot;Miriam Bat Yehoshua&quot;?<\/p>\n<p>Is God going to be more likely to heal her if you pray for her using her Hebrew name?<\/p>\n<p>I remember an Orthodox friend wanted to know Cathy Seipp&#8217;s Hebrew name so he could pray for her.<\/p>\n<p>She didn&#8217;t have one.<\/p>\n<p>Probably why she died.<\/p>\n<p>After years of suffering, Cathy announced at a party that &quot;cancer has not made me a better person.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>That was very true.<\/p>\n<p>A Jewish friend of mine does not know his father&#8217;s Hebrew name, so he&#8217;s been told by rabbis to go through the conversion process.<\/p>\n<p>He refuses.<\/p>\n<p>Stiff-knecked Jew.<\/p>\n<p>When I&#8217;m in the hospital, I don&#8217;t want anyone wasting their time praying for me.<\/p>\n<p>Just send money.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Hollywood producer was hit by a car Friday night and is in critical condition at UCLA.
