Luke Ford and a very drunk Joey Kurtzman of Jewcy.com<\/a>: Comparing equipment at the party, I realize the iPhone is far better for reading stuff online than the Blackberry Curve.<\/p>\n I lugged around a book all night (and got in about 20 minutes of reading): "The Father Factor: How Your Father’s Legacy Impacts Your Career<\/a>"<\/p>\n Cool Jews author Lisa Alcalay Klug<\/a> thanked me for plugging her work on my blog.<\/p>\n I learn about a new website set up in Los Angeles for Jews who learn Torah in Israel and then return to America and try to adjust. It’s called ILearnAndReturn.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n I ask a friend, "How long have you known [prominent Los Angeles Orthodox rabbi] was a philanderer?"<\/p>\n Friend: "Since I was a kid, since about 1988."<\/p>\n Another friend says: "Your friend….is very cold. She’s insecure."<\/p>\n Luke: "No, she’s just in love with her boyfriend."<\/p>\n I kept my drink ticket all night and considered giving it to a friend (as I don’t drink), but I don’t like encouraging other people to drink either so my ticket went home with me at the end of the evening.<\/p>\n I spent much of my night at the Jewcy booth checking out Helen Jupiter<\/a>‘s journalistic credentials. They shone brightly (my camera really doesn’t do them justice). So, I got engaged. About two months ago. And now, suddenly, I’m planning a wedding, which is great and wonderful and exciting, and which raises a whole host of environmental\/social issues for me. Of course, I want my wedding to be representative of both me and Matt as individuals and as a couple. It’s fun to find ways to express ourselves in colors and music and ritual, but there’s so much more to it. This is a definitive life cycle event. Our wedding will be the gateway into our marriage, and the rest of our lives as partners. It’s a day that will symbolize our intentions together. Who do we want to become? What do we want to achieve?
