Her name wasn’t on the masthead of the latest issue of Jewish Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n If you call the Jewish Journal, they won’t tell you where she went.<\/p>\n She left two weeks ago.<\/p>\n Maybe she found love in Ohio?<\/p>\n Did she have a spat with managing editor Susan Freudenheim?<\/p>\n I hear Amy was laid off for financial reasons. The Jewish Journal will run full color excerpts from her new graphic novel ("Confessions of an Online Dating Dating Addict") in its Aug. 8 issue and JewishJournal.com will link to her new blog.<\/p>\n I published Amy’s resume about a year ago. She was looking for teaching gigs. She’d just completed an MFA in creative writing.<\/p>\n Normally I have a satellite circling Amy from about 100 miles overhead but I’ve been distracted of late by spiritual artist Marc Gafni.<\/p>\n PS. Damn! Amy emailed everybody in her life, about 100 or so persons, but that list did not include your humble correspondent, oh my brothers.<\/p>\n She wrote, in part:<\/p>\n Dear Friends, Colleagues and Rabbis, After 7 years at the Jewish Journal, the paper and I are parting ways. After four years as managing editor, three years as religion editor, 4 LA press club awards, 4 Rockower awards, it’s time for me to pursue my writing career. Today I am officially hanging out my shingle as a freelance writer and editor. Feel free to send assignments my way. It’s been a pleasure working with all of you and covering the Jewish community. At one time, she had a powerful position. Now she does not.
