Excellent Cadavers<\/strong><\/em> is a 1995<\/a> non-fiction<\/a> book<\/a> by American<\/a> author Alexander Stille<\/a> about the Sicilian Mafia<\/a>, concentrating on magistrate<\/a> Giovanni Falcone<\/a>‘s fight against the Mafia<\/a> and his 1992<\/a> assassination<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The name of the book comes from the phrase "excellent cadavers" (cadaveri eccellenti<\/em>), used by the Italian police when referring to high-profile victims of the Mafia such as politicians, judges and police chiefs (as opposed to less public victims claimed by day-to-day Mafia business). In a more general sense, cadaveri eccellenti<\/em> means an unsolved murder in a game of the same name.<\/p>\n

Excellent Cadavers<\/em> was made into a movie in 1999<\/a>, starring Chazz Palminteri<\/a> as Giovanni Falcone and F. Murray Abraham<\/a> as informant Tommaso Buscetta<\/a>.<\/p>\n
