{"id":33410,"date":"2011-06-05T18:24:09","date_gmt":"2011-06-06T02:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=33410"},"modified":"2011-06-05T18:24:09","modified_gmt":"2011-06-06T02:24:09","slug":"hasidic-burning-in-new-square-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lukeford.net\/blog\/?p=33410","title":{"rendered":"Hasidic Burning In New Square, New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><A HREF=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/06\/06\/nyregion\/in-hasidic-village-attempted-murder-arrest-is-linked-to-schism.html?hp\">The New York Times reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>NEW SQUARE, N.Y. \u2014 Last September, Aron Rottenberg did something radical.<\/p>\n<p>Along with some friends, he began worshiping not at the grand synagogue at the center of this ultra-Orthodox Skver Hasidic community in Rockland County, but outside the village at a residence for the elderly.<\/p>\n<p>Before long, a rabbinical court ruled that praying outside the synagogue was a serious violation of community rules.<\/p>\n<p>Next, groups outside Mr. Rottenberg\u2019s house smashed windows and dumped his daughter\u2019s school desk and books on the front porch.
