He tells me: its got ups and downs
\neverything almost everything in jerusalem is kosher
\nbut its still expensive
\nbut i like going to the shop across from me and everything having a hechsher.<\/p>\n
i like the fact that i can go into a pub and 90 percent of the girls are jewish.
\nI like the fact that shabbat is taken seriously even by secular people here.<\/p>\n
but with that all said the bureaucratic stuff is garbage
\nand many israelis sadly are gonifs
\nlooking to pick off friars
\nnoone totally trusts each other here
\nolim willl be your social scene
\nulpan for me was a massive disappointment
\nand u work long hrs for very little pay
\nbut the health care system works very nicely
\nthe buses are decent when they are not late
\nand i like the realistic honesty that israelis approach life
\nu meet few luftmenschen<\/p>\n
what disappointed you about ulpan?<\/p>\n
methodolgies
\noutdated
\npadagogically flawed
\nimpatient teachers
\ni was learning more russian for a couple of weeks then hebrew
\nisraelis prefer to speak in broken english
\nthen accented or broken hebrew
\nisraelis are sort of like the french in that regard
\nthe single biggest group of influence are moroccan jews in jerusalem
\nvery french and very arab at the same time
\nand also very jewish
\nthey barter over everything
\nthe ashkenazim stick to the middle of the country and tel aviv
\nthe rest of the country is arsim and kibbutzniks and russians
\nthe haredem and settlers stick to themselves
\nand the ethiopians dont talk to anyone for some reason
\nanglos here are a funny bunch
\nu have hell bent for leather south africans
\nand zionistic brits
\nold lefty hippies
\nkahane wannabes
\nkids of israelis who were expected to go home
