One  official familiar with the planning of the dinner said there was \u201cdefinitely a  clamoring among business leaders to get in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;[The] dinner came just hours after [a] State Department lunch, where  President Hu was feted&#8230;by Vice President <a title=\"More articles about Joseph R. Biden Jr.\" href=\"http:\/\/topics.nytimes.com\/top\/reference\/timestopics\/people\/b\/joseph_r_jr_biden\/index.html?inline=nyt-per\">Joseph  R. Biden Jr.<\/a> and Secretary of State <a title=\"More articles about Hillary Rodham Clinton.\" href=\"http:\/\/topics.nytimes.com\/top\/reference\/timestopics\/people\/c\/hillary_rodham_clinton\/index.html?inline=nyt-per\">Hillary  Rodham Clinton<\/a>. Among the roughly 175 guests were some of the same&#8230;names  who attended the dinner later [including Barbra] Streisand&#8230;as she walked into the White House for the dinner, the singer was  asked what accounted for her invitation.
