I have some reflections on the Torah’s injunction not to hate your neighbor in your heart<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’ve been studying Sefer HaChinuch (the 14th? century book of Jewish education) on Leviticus 19 (the Holiness Code).<\/p>\n

Which Jews are we allowed to hate these days? In the Bible, G-d seems to hate the Jews (as well as the goyim) much of the time and He goes around smiting them.<\/p>\n

Aren’t we supposed to emulate G-d?<\/p>\n

Then the rabbis took the fun out of hating our fellow Jews. They severely restricted the Jews we’re allowed to hate and how we’re allowed to hate them.<\/p>\n

What’s the point in being Jewish if you can’t hate on your fellow Jews?<\/p>\n
