This Haaretz story is getting a lot of play in the blogosphere.<\/a><\/p>\n

Is the raping of a peace activist by the Palestinian man they’re protecting just desserts? Extremely impolite? Or who are we to judge? That’s his culture.<\/p>\n

It seems to me like just desserts. You give sanctuary to evil people. How do you expect them to act?<\/p>\n

I love this paragraph in the Haaretz story:<\/p>\n

\nOne villager said the female activists bring a different “culture with them, western, too open. The young people, especially from the villages, aren\u2019t used to stay near other girls, they do not know their culture, certainly when it\u2019s a young woman staying with other women in a strange house. They misinterpret it.”\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It reminds me of the chilling novel Disgrace<\/a><\/em> by J.M. Coetzee. The white protagonist’s daughter consents to repeated rape by wild young black men. She felt like she had it coming as a white person in racist South Africa and she didn’t want to leave her land.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
