For a decade before he got involved with the Afghan cause, Charlie Wilson<\/a> was Israel’s biggest congressional supporter. Then he toured the Sabra and Chatila massacre sites in Lebanon (Israel allowed Christians to go into the Palestinian camps and massacre the inhabitants for a couple of days) and felt sick. Without going public with his distress, Wilson looked for a new cause and found it in the Afghans fighting their Soviet invaders.<\/p>\n
