When the teacher urged him to go, he mumbled unhappily, \u201cCan\u2019t.\u201d<br \/>\n She asked, \u201cWhy not?\u201d<br \/>\n \u201c\u2019Cause my Mommy isn\u2019t here,\u201d Jonathan explained. \u201cShe claps for me when I finish.\u201d<br \/>\n The teacher thought for a moment. \u201cJonathan, you can go to the bathroom and then clap for yourself.\u201d<br \/>\n Jonathan looked wide-eyed.<br \/>\n The teacher led him to the bathroom and waited. After a few minutes, from behind the closed door she heard the sound of applause.<br \/>\n Later that day the mother called her to say that the first words out of Jonathan\u2019s mouth when he came home were \u201cMommy, I can clap for myself.
