The psakim from Chareidi poskim are there. The knowledge and professional research is there. Sadly, the history of rabbinic failure over the past thirty plus years is there.<\/p>\n

And yet, there is still no clear message, and too often, they seem more concerned with preserving rabbinical authority instead of stopping abuse.<\/p>\n

As Agudah’s David Zweibel said in last week’s NY Times article on the matter: "“The district attorney should be careful not to be seen as making a power grab from rabbinic authority.” <\/p>\n

Y. AHARON POSTS: Does anyone know if those special batei din in LA and Chicago actually function (inviting Harry to give us the the Chicago picture)? If so, do the frum psychologists, social workers, and legal counsel employed have a track record of working with and advocating for victims of pedophiles and other sexual abusers? What about the track record of the dayanim of these courts? It’s easy to make defensive statements.
