In my experience, there is a gulf between the civic obligations felt by WASPs (white gentile non-Catholics of northern European origins) and those felt by every other group. I keep meeting WASPs who take pains to pay the IRS everything owed to it, even if they can get away with stuff, and they want to serve on jury duty and in the armed forces, conduct themselves honestly with all people, and do not operate by dual morality (one ethic for how you treat your in-group and another ethic for how you treat outsiders). <\/p>\n
